Beryl Nesbitt
Beryl Nesbitt is an actress and model with numerous roles in major films, TV dramas and theatre productions spanning from the mid-1950s to the present day. She gained public recognition for her role as the housekeeper Annie Hughes in the 1983 TV series ''The Citadel'' and as Simone in the 1986 series Bluebell. She worked alongside Richard Beckinsale as part of the cast on the comedy series Bloomers, which was incomplete before he died. Of later years she has had a starring role in the Notting Hill Anxiety Festival and appeared as Mikey's nan in ''Doghouse'' as well as being the prominent face on Amstel Lager posters. She played a screaming prisoner in the episode ''The Way Back'' of ''Blake's 7''. ''The Citadel'' is a 1983 BBC television adaptation written by Don Shaw from A. J. Cronin's 1937 novel ''The Citadel''. It was produced by Ken Riddington. The drama was directed by Peter Jefferies and Mike Vardy. The BBC dramatisation stars Ben Cross as Dr. Andrew Manson and Clare Higgins as Christine Manson. Liverbirds
The Liverbirds were an English all-female rock band from Liverpool, active between 1963 and 1968. The group consisted of vocalist and guitarist Valerie Gell, guitarist and vocalist Pamela Birch, bassist and vocalist Mary McGlory, and drummer Sylvia Saunders. They were one of the very few female bands on the Merseybeat scene, as well as one of the first all-female rock and roll bands in the world. They took their name from the fictional liver bird, which is the symbol of their native Liverpool. They were mostly a cover band, except for three of their songs being written by Pamela Birch. Midland Bank
Midland Bank Plc was one of the Big Four banking groups in the United Kingdom for most of the 20th century. It is now part of HSBC. The bank was founded as the Birmingham and Midland Bank in Union Street, Birmingham, England in August 1836. It expanded in the Midlands, absorbing many local banks, and merged with the Central Bank of London Ltd. in 1891, becoming the London City and Midland Bank. Gillian Hiscott is an author and playwright, born in Plymouth, Devon, United Kingdom, in 1959 whose plays have been performed both in London and at the Edinburgh Festival. Her work in the theatre has been largely to promote the work of British female writers and she is the only published adaptor of work by Marie Corelli. ''When the Boat Comes In'' is a British television period drama produced by the BBC between 1976 and 1981. The series stars James Bolam as Jack Ford, a First World War veteran who returns to his poverty-stricken (fictional) town of Gallowshield in the North East of England.
