Pierre Francis de Marigny Berton, CC, O.Ont. (July 12, 1920 – November 30, 2004) was a Canadian writer, journalist and broadcaster. Berton wrote 50 best-selling books, mainly about Canadiana, Canadian history and popular culture. He also wrote critiques of mainstream religion, anthologies, children's books and historical works for youth. He was a reporter and war correspondent, an editor at ''Maclean's Magazine'' and ''The Toronto Star'' and, for 39 years, a guest on Front Page Challenge. He was a founder of the Writers' Trust of Canada, and won many honours and awards. Stefania Berton (born 19 July 1990) is an Italian former competitive pair skater. With partner Ondřej Hotárek, she is the 2013 European bronze medalist, the 2013 Skate Canada International champion, and a three-time Italian national champion. Berton/Hotárek are the first Italian pair skaters to win European and Grand Prix medals. Berton previously competed as a single skater and ice dancer. Alain-Edgard Berton (1912–1979) was a French chemical engineer who specialized in toxicology and in the analysis of air components in industrial environments. Father Giuseppe Berton (1932 – 25 June 2013) was an Italian missionary of the Catholic Church, a member of the Xaverian Missionary Fathers, who worked in Sierra Leone from 1971 until his death. John Andrew Berton Jr. is an American computer graphics animator and visual effects supervisor. His most recent completed project is '' Bedtime Stories''. He also recently worked in India, supervising effects on the film ''Krrish 3''. In the fall of 2013, he joined the faculty of Drexel University in Philadelphia. Clarence Berton Roueché, Jr. ( ; April 16, 1910 – April 28, 1994) was an American medical writer who wrote for ''The New Yorker'' magazine for almost fifty years. He also wrote twenty books, including '' Eleven Blue Men'' (1954), ''The Incurable Wound'' (1958), ''Feral'' (1974), and ''The Medical Detectives'' (1980). Henri-Montan Berton (17 September 1767 – 22 April 1844) was a French composer, teacher, and writer, mostly known as a composer of operas for the Opéra-Comique. Berton Churchill (December 9, 1876 – October 10, 1940) was a Canadian stage and film actor. Early years Churchill was born in Toronto, Ontario. After his family moved to New York City, he graduated from high school there, studied law at night, and was a weekly participant in the William J. Florence Dramatic Society in Jersey City. Louis des Balbes de Berton de Crillon, 1st Duke of Mahón, 2nd Duke of Crillon (22 February 1717 – June 1796) was a Franco-Spanish military officer who reached the rank of Captain general of the Army. He became a soldier at the age of 16 and served with distinction in the French army before transferring to the army of Spain, which was allied with France for much of the 18th century.
