Bertha Clark-Jones
Bertha Clark-Jones (née Houle; 6 November 1922 – 21 October 2014) was a Cree-Métis activist. Born in Clear Hills, Alberta as one of 14 children,Lawrence Barkwell (10 February 2010)Bertha Clark Jones, O.C. Louis Riel Institute. Clark-Jones joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940 and served as a drill instructor. Although she "never once felt any discrimination in the air force", she encountered discriminatory policies after being discharged, and was consequently unable to obtain land. Fort McMurray ( ) is an urban service area in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in Alberta, Canada. It is located in northeast Alberta, in the middle of the Athabasca oil sands, surrounded by boreal forest. It has played a significant role in the development of the national petroleum industry.
