Bertel Geismar Haarder (born 7 September 1944, in Rønshoved, near Aabenraa) is a Danish writer, teacher and politician, who was a member of the Folketing for the Venstre political party. He has served as minister several times, including Minister of Education from 1982 to 1993 and again in 2005 to 2010, and most recently as Minister for Culture and Ecclesiastical Affairs from 2015 to 2016 in the L. L. Rasmussen II Cabinet. He is a former member of European Parliament, serving from 1994 to 2001. (Axel) Bertel Jung (11 July 1872 — 12 May 1946) was a Finnish architect and urban planner, notable as Finland's first official zoning architect and a pioneer in the field of city planning. Early life and education Axel Bertel Jung was born in Jakobstad, on the west coast of Finland, to insurance clerk Axel Gabriel Jung and Sofia Brunberg. Jung completed his secondary education in 1891, and went on to study architecture at the Polytechnical Institute (later Helsinki University of Technology, now part of Aalto University), graduating there in 1895, after which he went to further his studies at the Royal School of Art in Berlin. Bertel Lauring (11 January 1928 – 28 January 2000) was a Danish film actor. He appeared in 36 films between 1953 and 1981. He was born in Frederiksberg, Denmark and died in Denmark. After being a student at Odense Theatre and then having the opportunity to play small roles on several Copenhagen stages, he entered the Royal Theatre's student school in 1952. In the following years he appeared mostly in the capital's theatres, but also spent a number of years at the Aarhus Theatre. Bertel Lauring had several roles in radio and television and managed to record a number of films. He is buried in Bispebjerg Cemetery. Bertel Thorvaldsen (; 19 November 1770 – 24 March 1844) was a Danes, Danish and Icelanders, Icelandic Sculpture, sculptor medallist, medalist of international fame, who spent most of his life (1797–1838) in Italy. Thorvaldsen was born in Copenhagen into a working-class Danish/Icelandic family, and was accepted to the Royal Danish Academy of Art at the age of eleven. Working part-time with his father, who was a wood carver, Thorvaldsen won many honors and medals at the academy. He was awarded a stipend to travel to Rome and continue his education. In Rome, Thorvaldsen made a name for himself as a sculptor. Maintaining a large workshop in the city, he worked in a heroic neo-classicist style. His patrons resided all over Europe. Upon his return to Denmark in 1838, Thorvaldsen was received as a Folk hero, national hero. The Thorvaldsen Museum was erected to house his works next to Christiansborg Palace.
