Bert Nankiville
Herbert Nankiville (7 June 1917 – 6 June 1977) was a champion swimming (sport), swimmer who won the Australian national 440 yards freestyle championship in 1936. He was inducted into the Goldfields Sporting Hall of Fame in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, where he also has a road, Nankiville Road, named after him. The Division of Coolgardie was an Divisions of the Australian House of Representatives, Australian electoral division in Western Australia. The division was proclaimed in 1900, and was one of the List of Australian electorates contested at every election, original 65 divisions to be contested at the 1901 Australian federal election, first federal election. It was abolished in 1913. It was named for the gold-mining centre of Coolgardie, Western Australia, Coolgardie, on which it was based. It was a safe seat for the Australian Labor Party. Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. A medley relay consists of four swimmers who will each swim a different stroke, ordered as backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. Swimming each stroke requires a set of specific techniques; in competition, there are distinct regulations concerning the acceptable form for each individual stroke. Kalgoorlie
Kalgoorlie is a city in the Goldfields–Esperance region of Western Australia, located east-northeast of Perth at the end of the Great Eastern Highway. It is sometimes referred to as Kalgoorlie–Boulder, as the surrounding urban area includes the historic townsite of Boulder and the local government area is the City of Kalgoorlie–Boulder.
