Bert Hyde
Albert Victor Hyde (3 June 1907 – 23 October 1989) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn in the VFL. Family The son of Arthur James Hyde (1879-1949), and Alice Frances Louisa Hyde (1867-1956), née Letch, Albert Victor Hyde was born at Brunswick East, Victoria on 3 June 1907. Football Brunswick (VFA) Recruited from East Brunswick, he played in 10 First XVII matches (scoring 5 goals) with Brunswick Football Club in 1924. Hawthorn (VFL) Hyde was a full-forward and was Hawthorn's major goal-kicker during their first decade in the VFL: he topped their goal-kicking from 1926–1930, with a best of 62 goals in 1928 to finish third in the VFL's goal-kicking — an impressive feat considering that Hawthorn finished last without a win. Brunswick East is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, north of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Merri-bek local government area. Brunswick East recorded a population of 13,279 at the 2021 census. Bordered generally by Lygon Street and Holmes Street in the west; the Merri Creek in the east adjoining Northcote; Park Street, Nicholson Street and Glenlyon Road in the south adjoining Carlton North and Fitzroy North; and Moreland Road in the north adjoining Coburg. Rosebud, Victoria
Rosebud is a seaside town on the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, approximately south of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shire of Mornington Peninsula local government area. Rosebud recorded a population of 14,381 at the 2021 census. Rosebud is wedged between the lower slopes of Arthurs Seat, the shores of Port Phillip and the plains of Boneo. History Originally known as Banksia Point, Rosebud began life as a fishing community in the early 1850s. The 1933 Sydney Carnival was the eighth edition of the Australian National Football Carnival, an Australian rules football interstate competition. The carnival was held in Sydney over an eleven-day period between Wednesday 2 August and Saturday 12 August. During the competition, Queensland broke a 20-game carnival losing streak when they accounted for Canberra by 42 points. The Canberrans were competing in their inaugural Australian National Football Carnival. New South Wales were the better of the weaker set of teams, defeating each of Tasmania, Canberra and Queensland. Once more, South Australian and Western Australia outfits were no match for Victoria.
