Bert Flatley
Albert Austin Flatley (5 September 1919 – 9 April 1987) was an English association football, footballer and football manager. Bradford
Bradford is a city and the administrative centre of the City of Bradford district in West Yorkshire, England. The city is in the Pennines' eastern foothills on the banks of the Bradford Beck. The Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF) is an international organization dedicated to collecting statistics about association football. The foundation aims to build an exhaustive archive of football-related information from around the world. History This enterprise, according to its founders, was created in January 1994 by three regulars of the Rec.Sport.Soccer (RSS) Usenet newsgroup: Lars Aarhus, Kent Hedlundh, and Karel Stokkermans. Syed Abdul Rahim
Syed Abdul Rahim (17 August 1909 – 11 June 1963), popularly known as Rahim Saab, was an Indian football coach and manager of the Indian national team from 1950 until his death in 1963, and a former player. He is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football. Basically a teacher by profession, he was a good motivator and his tenure as a coach is regarded as a "golden age" of football in India. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. The 1951–52 season was the 72nd season of competitive football in England. Overview Four years after guiding them to glory in the FA Cup, Matt Busby guided Manchester United to their first league title triumph in 41 years. While still captained by Johnny Carey and featuring several other players from the 1948 FA Cup winning team, Busby was now giving regular action to young players including Roger Byrne, Johnny Berry and Jackie Blanchflower, and had already invested in the future by making a move for the young goalkeeper Ray Wood. A player-coach (also playing coach, captain-coach, or player-manager) is a member of a sports team who simultaneously holds both playing and coaching duties. A player-coach may be a head coach or an assistant coach. They may make changes to the squad and also play on the team. Carlo Carcano
Carlo Carcano (; 26 February 1891 – 23 June 1965) was an Italian footballer and manager who played as a midfielder. Club career Carcano was born in Varese. As a player, he was a one club man, playing for Alessandria. International career At international level, Carcano also represented Italy on 5 occasions between 1915 and 1921, scoring once. Managerial career After he retired from playing, Carcano moved into management to much acclaim. He led Juventus to four consecutive league titles; the first of only two managers in Italy football history (alongside Massimiliano Allegri) to win four in a row. He later also managed the Italy national football team. He was suddenly removed from the Juventus club in December 1934 in order to stifle a homosexual scandal in which he was involved by elements of society hostile to him. Gigg Lane
Gigg Lane is a football ground in Bury, Greater Manchester, England, built for Bury F.C. in 1885. The first match was played on 12 September 1885 between Bury and a team from Wigan. One of the world's oldest professional football stadiums, Gigg Lane was in continuous use by Bury until August 2019 when the club was expelled from the English Football League. The ground's last competitive match was on 4 May 2019 when Bury hosted Port Vale. In November 2020, Bury F.C. was placed in administration and the ground was later put up for sale by the administrator. In February 2022, the Est.1885 fans' group completed a deal to purchase the entire property. They also acquired the trading name and memorabilia of Bury F.C. The new owners formed the company Gigg Lane Stadium Limited and stated their intention to reopen the ground as a football venue by August 2022. Norman Bullock
Norman Bullock (8 September 1900 – 22 October 1970) was an English professional footballer, who played as both a forward and a defender, and manager. He began his career playing local amateur football before signing for Bury in 1920. In 15 years with the club, he set new club records for both appearances and goals, scoring 125 league goals in over 500 appearances. During his career he also represented England at international level, scoring twice. After retiring from playing in 1935, he was appointed manager of Bury and remained in the role until 1938 when he left to manage Chesterfield. He returned to manage Bury for a second spell between 1945 and 1949 before leaving again to join Leicester City.
