Berowra railway station is located on the Main Northern railway line, Main Northern line, serving the Sydney suburb of Berowra, New South Wales, Berowra. It is served by Sydney Trains North Shore & Western Line, T1 North Shore Line services and NSW TrainLink Central Coast & Newcastle Line services. History Berowra station opened on 7 April 1887 when the Main Northern railway line, Main Northern line was extended from Hornsby railway station, Hornsby to Hawkesbury River railway station, Hawkesbury River. In 1909, the line was duplicated and the present island platform built. On 23 October 1983, a passing loop was opened opposite the platform. This allowed suburban services to terminate, and from January 1992, Berowra became the northern boundary of the Sydney suburban network replacing Cowan railway station, Cowan. Pacific Highway (Australia)
Pacific Highway is a national highway and major transport route along the central east coast of Australia, with the majority of it being part of Australia's Highway 1. The highway and its adjoining Pacific Motorway between Brisbane and Brunswick Heads and Pacific Motorway between Sydney and Newcastle links the state capitals of Sydney in New South Wales with Brisbane in Queensland, approximately paralleling the Tasman Sea of the South Pacific Ocean coast, via Gosford, Newcastle, Taree, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, and Ballina. Additionally, between Brunswick Heads and Port Macquarie (excepting for a short stretch around Coffs Harbour), the road is also signed as Pacific Motorway, but has not been legally gazetted as such. Rail Clearways Program
The Rail Clearways Programme was conceived in 2004 with the aim of easing congestion of Sydney's suburban railway network, by reducing the amount of infrastructure shared by multiple services. The disparate projects at pinch points throughout the network were designed to increase passenger capacity and improve reliability. All projects were delivered by the Transport Construction Authority until it was subsumed in November 2011 by Transport for New South Wales. A new timetable was introduced in October 2013 that realised the benefit of many of the projects, and by January 2014—the programme was complete. Mooney Mooney
Mooney Mooney is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, at the end of a peninsula extending southwards into the Hawkesbury River estuary situated north of Sydney. It is where the Pacific Motorway and Pacific Highway cross from the Central Coast into Sydney's metropolitan area at Brooklyn in the Hornsby Shire. History Mooney Mooney is significant 'for its association with the early settlement of coastal NSW', according to a plaque at Deerubbun Reserve. In 1844, an early-colonial settler, George Peat, commenced a ferry service across the Hawkesbury River, from Mooney Mooney Point to Kangaroo Point on the southern bank. By 1930 this service was replaced by two diesel-powered vehicular ferries which became obsolete on completion of the Peats Ferry Road Bridge in 1945. Transdev NSW is a bus operator in the northern, southern and western suburbs of Sydney, Australia, operating on behalf of Transport for NSW. It is a subsidiary of Transdev Australasia. It is a different subsidiary to Transdev John Holland, which is 75% owned by Transdev and operates in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. With origins tracing back to February 1935, Transdev NSW was renamed from Veolia Transport NSW in July 2013 after the global rebranding of its parent company Veolia Transdev to simply Transdev. Wyong Railway Station
Wyong railway station is located on the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the northern Central Coast suburb of Wyong. History Wyong station was opened on 15 August 1887. In 1912, the line was duplicated. In 1937, the eastern platform was converted to an island platform. A pair of passing loops were added south of the station in 1948. In the 1950s, a new bridge was built over Wyong Creek immediately south of the station, with the old railway bridge becoming part of the Pacific Highway. Between April 1982 and June 1984, Wyong was the northern extremity of the electrified network. A brick building on Platforms 1 and 2 was replaced by the current structure in the 1990s. On 1 November 1993, an upgraded footbridge with a new ticket office and lifts was opened by Minister for Transport Bruce Baird. Gosford Railway Station
Gosford railway station is located on the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the Central Coast city of Gosford, opening on 15 August 1887. Between January 1960 and April 1982, Gosford was the northern extremity of the electrified network. The station buildings were demolished and replaced by the current structure which opened on 10 September 1993. An extensive network of stabling sidings exist north and south of the station. A functioning water crane is located at the northern end of Platform 2 and is used occasionally by passing steam locomotives. Upgrades Work is currently in progress to create a further 58 commuter parking spaces. Work will shortly commence to create a further 26 spaces.
