Víctor Salvador Bernárdez Blanco (; born 24 May 1982), also known as Muma, is a Honduran former footballer who most recently played as a defender for Oakland Roots SC. Early life Bernárdez was raised in La Ceiba, living with his mother, sisters, and extended family in a single house. He grew up relatively poor and endured hardships, including having his home damaged because of Hurricane Mitch in 1998. He started playing soccer in his youth with the other children of his neighborhood. Bernárdez earned the nickname of "Muma" from teammates of Vida and Honduran national player Rene “Pupa” Martinez. They noticed him following Martinez at every chance he got, so he was the Muma to Pupa. Eventually he was able to join CDS Vida, who his grandfather had played for as well as coached. Salvador Bernárdez (6 January 1954 – 18 July 2011) was a Honduran international football midfielder. Club career Nicknamed ''Pichini'' and ''Pólvora'', Bernárdez played his entire career for F.C. Motagua in the Honduran league. He was the Honduran league's top goalscorer in the 1978/79 season and still is the 9th best scorer for Motagua of all time with 36 goals. International career Bernárdez has represented Honduras in 9 1982 FIFA World Cup qualification matches, helping them to qualify for their first World Cup Finals tournament. Francisco Luis Bernárdez (5 October 1900 – 24 October 1978) was an Argentine poet, born in Buenos Aires. He lived in Spain from 1920 until 1924, where he read the modernist poets that influenced in his first books, and he also worked as a journalist in Vigo. When he came back from Spain he joined the Martín Fierro group, which played an important part in the literary and aesthetical renovation of Argentine literature. Later he worked in La Nación newspaper, and joined Criterio magazine. In 1937 he was named Public Library Secretary, and in 1944, General Director of Intellectual Culture of the Justice and Public Proceedings Ministry.
