Bernt Evensen
Bernt Sverre Evensen (18 April 1905 – 24 August 1979) was a Norwegian speed skater and racing cyclist who competed in skating at the 1928 and 1932 Winter Olympics. In 1928 he became the first Norwegian skater to win an Olympic gold medal by winning the 500 m event (first place shared with Clas Thunberg). At the same Olympics, he also won silver in the 1500 m and bronze over 5,000 m. He was in second place in the 10,000 m event, 0.1 seconds behind Irving Jaffee, when the competition was cancelled because the ice had started thawing. At the 1932 Olympics in Lake Placid, Evensen won a silver medal in the 500 m. Evensen and compatriot Ivar Ballangrud were the only European Olympic speed skating medalists during those games. This can mostly be attributed to the fact that the races were skated in ''pack-style'' (having all competitors skate at the same time), a format that most European skaters were not familiar with. Armand Carlsen
Armand Henning Carlsen (20 October 1905 – 8 May 1969) was a Norwegian speed skater who competed in the 1928 Winter Olympics. In 1928 he finished fifth in the 5000 metres event. He also started in the abandoned 10000 metres competition. He held the world record in the 10,000 metres distance between 1928 and 1939, clocking in 17:17.4 minutes at the 1928 World Championships. His other personal best times were 46.5 seconds in the 500 metres (1931); 2.23.6 minutes in the 1500 metres (1928); and 8.34.0 minutes in the 5000 metres (1928). He represented the club Oslo SK, and chaired the Norwegian Skating Association from 1956 to 1961. Johan Støa (13 June 1900 – 29 October 1991) was a Norwegian multi-sportsman. He competed as athlete (marathon runner), cross-country skier, ski jumper, cyclist, swimmer, footballer, and boxer. Adelskalender (skating)
The Adelskalender in skating is a ranking for long track speed skating based on skaters' all-time personal records for certain distances. As in samalog competitions, the skater's time (measured in seconds) for each distance is divided in 500 metre averages, truncated (not rounded) to 3 decimal places, and the results are then added up – the lower the sum, the better. The samalog system was introduced in 1928 in Norway, replacing ranking points in the traditional 4 distance championships, and can also be used to reconstruct scores based on personal records that were set before the samalog system was invented. Eisstadion Davos
Eisstadion Davos is an indoor arena in Davos, Switzerland. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home arena of HC Davos. It holds 7,080 people, of which 3,280 are seated. Every year the Spengler Cup is played in this arena. Major renovation of the arena started at the conclusion of the 2017-18 season to upgrade most of the stands and the concourse. The seating capacity will not be increased and the total cost should be around CHF 27 million. Construction began in 2018 and is expected to be completed by 2021.
