# Farmsen-Berne is a quarter of Hamburg, Germany, in the borough of Wandsbek. More than 34,000 inhabitants live in an area of 8.3 km2. Farmsen () and Berne () are part of the area of Walddörfer (lit. ''forest villages''). Geography Farmsen-Berne borders the quarters of Rahlstedt, Tonndorf, Wandsbek, Bramfeld, Sasel, and Volksdorf. Berne (Hamburg U-Bahn Station)
Berne is a rapid transit station located in the Hamburg quarter of Farmsen-Berne, Germany. The station was opened in 1918 and is served by Hamburg U-Bahn line U1. History The station was constructed from 1912 to 1914 and opened on 12 September 1918 on the Walddörfer railway line. The station was served by steam trains until 29 September 1919 and re-opened after electrification of one track on 6 September 1920. A second electrified track opened in 1923. The station was located in a rural environment until the 1950s, when a local community center developed east of the station. Because the main entrance was at Berner Heerweg west of the station, the entranceway was re-built and a second entrance from the east was added, the two entrances linked by a bridge across the U-Bahn tracks. A restaurant can be found in the former station building today. At the station, a third track without a platform is located. Berne (English: ɜːn is a city within Monroe and Wabash townships, Adams County, Indiana, United States, located south of Fort Wayne. The population was 4,173 at the 2020 Census. Berne is widely known for its Swiss heritage, architecture and culture, and for its status as the "''Furniture Capital of Indiana''." Eric Berne
Eric Berne (May 10, 1910 – July 15, 1970) was a Canadian-born psychiatrist who created the theory of transactional analysis as a way of explaining human behavior. Berne's theory of transactional analysis was based on the ideas of Freud but was distinctly different. Freudian psychotherapists focused on talk therapy as a way of gaining insight to their patient's personalities. Berne believed that insight could be better discovered by analyzing patients’ social transactions. Josef Berne (January 19, 1904 – December 19, 1964) was a Russian-born American writer, film director and producer. Berne was born Josef Berstein on January 19, 1904, in Kyiv, Russia (now Ukraine). Tim Berne (born October 16, 1954) is an American avant-garde jazz saxophonist and record label owner. His primary instruments are the alto and baritone saxophones. Biography Berne was born in Syracuse, New York, United States. He has said that he had no interest in playing an instrument until he attended Lewis & Clark College in Oregon. Hearing the album ''Dogon A.D.'' (1972) by Julius Hemphill turned his attention toward jazz. He was a fan of rhythm and blues, and it seemed to him that Hemphill was playing jazz with the soulfulness of R&B. In 1974, he went to New York to find Hemphill, who gave him saxophone lessons and advice on how to manage his career. Berne started the record label Empire in 1979. For Empire, he recorded four albums with avant-garde jazz musicians such as John Carter, Alex Cline, Nels Cline, Olu Dara, Vinny Golia, Paul Motian, and Ed Schuller.
