Bernard Rosenthal (scholar)
Bernard Rosenthal (born 1934) is an American scholar and historian, professor emeritus of English at Binghamton University, specializing in the history of the Salem witchcraft trials and the writings of Herman Melville. Rosenthal received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 1968, and was a Fulbright Program, Fulbright lecturer at Tampere University in Finland in 1996–97. He has specialized in American culture, literature, and history. He is an internationally known scholar, formerly a Fulbright scholar, and he has written numerous books and articles. In addition to his publications, he has given many talks including at Cornell University, The Modern Language Association, The Melville Society and various others in America. Overseas, he has given talks in London, Edinburgh in Scotland. In Finland, where he was a Fulbright Scholar, he has spoken at Tampere University and Helsinki University.
