Bernard Fein
Bernard Fein (November 13, 1926 – September 10, 1980) was an American actor, television producer, screenwriter and film director. He is best known for co-creating and associate producing the 1960s television sitcom ''Hogan's Heroes''; a show which he also occasionally wrote for, including the pilot episode. He directed only one film, the 1974 movie ''View from the Loft''. As an actor Fein's first big break came in 1955 when he landed the recurring role of Pvt. Gomez on ''Sergeant Bilko'' which he portrayed through 1959. He appeared regularly as a guest actor on numerous programs from 1959 through 1967 on such shows as ''The Untouchables'', ''Sea Hunt'', '' Lawman'', ''Alfred Hitchcock Presents'', ''77 Sunset Strip'', ''Perry Mason'', and ''The F.B.I.''. ''Johnny Staccato'' is an American private detective television series starring John Cassavetes which ran for 27 episodes on NBC from September 10, 1959 through March 24, 1960. Synopsis Titular character Johnny Staccato, played by John Cassavetes, is a jazz pianist/private detective. The setting for many episodes is a Greenwich Village jazz club belonging to his friend, Waldo, played by Eduardo Ciannelli. The show featured many musicians, such as Barney Kessel, Shelly Manne, Milt Holland, Red Mitchell, Red Norvo, and Johnny Williams. ''Naked City'' is an American police procedural television series from Screen Gems that aired on ABC from 1958 to 1959 and from 1960 to 1963. It was inspired by the 1948 motion picture ''The Naked City'' and mimics its dramatic "semi- documentary" format. ''Body Fever'' or ''Super Cool'' is a 1969 American low-budget crime drama film, directed by Ray Dennis Steckler. It stars Carolyn Brandt as a cat burglar and Bernard Fein as a down and out detective searching for her. Rotten Tomatoes mentions that in the film a "lackadaisical gumshoe is caught between a glamorous thief, a gang of ruthless hoodlums and a handful of vicious drug peddlers in this quirky crime drama". Steckler created a bit part for then destitute fellow director Coleman Francis. Francis died just a few years later in 1973.
