Bernard Dudot
Bernard Dudot () (born 30 January 1939) is a French engineer who was instrumental in the development of the turbo V6 and normally aspirated V10 engines of Formula One while working for Alpine and Renault. , he is Head of Engineering of the GP2 Series. He has a similar role in GP3 Series since the creation of that category. He is also a consultant for Le Mans organisation. Career Alpine and Renault years In 1967 he joined Automobiles Alpine, after convincing Jean Rédelé. Rédelé commissioned him to organize a motor development department of their own to reduce dependence on those of Gordini, Mignotet and Moteur Moderne. There he began to develop a turbo engine, which would be one of the bases for the future Renault's Formula One turbo engine. Veloce Publishing is primarily an automotive book publisher based in Poundbury, Dorset. Founded in 1991 by Rod Grainger and Jude Brooks, it has published close to 1000 titles under the Veloce imprint, and over 80 titles under its Hubble & Hattie imprint, which deals with animal-related subjects. Renault EF-Type Engine
The EF-Type was a Turbocharged 90° V6 racing engine developed by Renault Sport, the engine was used by Equipe Renault Elf in Formula One from 1977 to 1985. This engine derived from the CH series designed by François Castaing, the F1 engine was developed by Bernard Dudot. Renault's decision to use its 1500 cc V6 turbo engines in F1 was one of the boldest decisions ever taken in the sport. Renault CH-Type Engine
The CH-Type was a 90° V6 engine developed by Renault-Gordini for Renault's autosport activities. This François Castaing design was the predecessor of the famous EF series. In 1972, after an agreement was reached with Elf, François Castaing, technical director of Renault Gordini, was given the go-ahead to build a 2-litre engine that could be used in a "sports" model and then in Formula 2. His team opted for a 90° V6, which was released in 1973 and was named the "type CH1" in honour of Claude Haardt, who had died in an accident a few months earlier. François J. Castaing (born 18 March 1945 in Marseille) is an automotive executive with Renault, American Motors, and Chrysler. He is an engineering graduate from École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers in Paris, and worked in Europe for Gordini and Renault before being named vice president for Product Engineering and Development at American Motors Corporation (AMC). With Gordini and Renault Castaing started his career in motorsports with Gordini in 1968 by working on engines for the 24 Hours of Le Mans races. After Gordini had been taken over by Renault, he advanced to the position of Renault Sport Technical Director.
