Bermudian Premier Division
The Bermudian Premier Division (officially the Digicel Premier Division for sponsorship reasons) is the highest level of professional football in Bermuda. Teams in this league (currently ten) compete for the national title and theoretically can claim a spot in the CONCACAF Caribbean Club Shield, although there has not yet been a Bermudian entry. The Bermudian clubs who participated in CONCACAF Champions' Cup (the predecessor to the CONCACAF Champions League), qualified in the North American zone (when zone qualifiers were used), last appearing in 1992. The bottom two teams at the end of each season are relegated to the First Division. The Bermuda Football Association, founded in 1928, is the official football organization in Bermuda and is in charge of the Bermudian national team. Overview The competition started in October 2012 and finished in March 2013. Dandy Town Hornets were the defending champions, having won their sixth league championship the season before. The competition will begin in October 2011 and end in March 2012. North Village Rams are the defending champions, having won their eighth league championship last season. Teams Somerset Eagles and Devonshire Colts were relegated to the Bermuda First Division after finishing last season in ninth and tenth place, respectively. Vasco da Gama Club is a private members' community club based in Bermuda. It currently forms part of the Bermuda Football Association, competing in its First Division League, the second tier of Bermuda football. The team has historically had Portuguese players, but more recently has seen many English and Bermudian players on the club. Southampton Rangers Sports Club is a Bermudian football club based in the parish of Southampton who participate in the Bermudian First Division. They play their home games at the Southampton Oval. Southampton Parish, Bermuda
Southampton Parish is one of the nine parishes of Bermuda. It is named for Henry Wriothesley, 3rd Earl of Southampton (1573-1624). It is located in the southwest of the island chain, occupying all of the western part of the main island, except for the westernmost tip (which is part of Sandys Parish). It includes the chain's southernmost point, and its north coast comprises much of the coast of the Little Sound (an arm of the Great Sound, the large expanse of water which dominates the geography of western Bermuda). in the east it is joined to Warwick Parish. Sandys Parish ( "sands") is one of the nine parishes of Bermuda. It is named for English aristocrat Sir Edwin Sandys (1561–1629), and hence there is no apostrophe in the name.
