Berkåk is the administrative centre of Rennebu Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the Orkladalen valley along the river Orkla. The village lies about north of the village of Ulsberg and southeast of the village of Stamnan. The European route E6 highway runs through the village, as does the Dovrebanen railway line which stops at Berkåk Station. Berkåk Church is also located in the village. Orkla (river)
Orkla is a river in Trøndelag and Innlandet counties in Norway. At in length, it is the longest river in Trøndelag county. The river follows the Orkdalen valley, discharging into the Orkdal Fjord, an arm of the large Trondheimsfjorden, at the town of Orkanger. The river originates in the lake Orkelsjøen, a small lake () near the watershed with the river Unna in the Glomma river system, in the municipality of Oppdal in the Dovrefjell mountains. The river runs through the municipalities of Oppdal, Tynset, Rennebu, and Orkland. The municipalities are all in Trøndelag county, except for Tynset, which is in Innlandet county. Berkåk Church
Berkåk Church ( no, Berkåk kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Rennebu municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Berkåk, just west of the European route E06 highway. It is the church for the Berkåk parish which is part of the Gauldal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden, neo-gothic church was built in a long church style in 1878 using plans drawn up by the architect Henrik Nissen. The church seats about 200 people. History The municipality of Rennebu became its own prestegjeld in 1862. In 1877, the parish received permission to build a chapel in Berkåk, the municipal centre. The parish hired Henrik Nissen to design the church which was built in 1878. It was consecrated on 30 October 1878. In 1953, the church was renovated in advance of its 75th anniversary. European route E6 ( no, Europavei 6, sv, Europaväg 6, or simply E6) is the main north-south thoroughfare through Norway as well as the west coast of Sweden. It is long and runs from the southern tip of Sweden at Trelleborg, into Norway and through almost all of the country north to the Arctic Circle and Nordkapp. The route ends in Kirkenes close to the Russian border.
