Berkeley Dallard
Berkeley "Bert" Lionel Scudamore Dallard (27 August 1889 – 5 September 1983) was a New Zealand accountant, senior public servant and prison administrator. Biography Early life He was born in Christchurch, New Zealand on 27 August 1889, and attended Rangiora High School. He completed a junior civil service examination and in 1907 became a cadet in the Stamp Department in Wellington. He would later attend Victoria University and qualified as an accountant. By 1924 he had progressed to the position of inspector in the Office of the Public Service Commissioner. In 1926 Dallard became New Zealand's controller-general of prisons, retaining this title until 1933, when he was appointed as an under-secretary to the Department of Justice. Wellington City Council
Wellington City Council is a territorial authority in New Zealand, governing the country's capital city Wellington, and ''de facto'' second-largest city (if the commonly considered parts of Wellington, the Upper Hutt, Porirua, Lower Hutt and often the Kapiti Coast, are taken into account; these, however have independent councils rather than a supercity governance like Auckland, and so Wellington City is legally only third-largest city by population, behind Auckland and Christchurch). Arthur Carman
Arthur Herbert Carman (2 August 1902 – 28 November 1982) was a New Zealand sports journalist and writer, bookseller, publisher, pacifist, local politician, and local historian. Life and career Carman was born and died in Wellington, New Zealand. The oldest of five children, all boys, of Walter and Gertrude Carman, Arthur was born in Paparangi, Johnsonville. He attended local schools before gaining his Certificate of Proficiency in 1915, which gave him the final two years of his education at Wellington College in central Wellington, commuting by train each day. He began work with the Government Audit Office in Wellington in 1919. He studied accountancy at night, and began contributing on cricket and rugby for the Wellington newspaper '' The Evening Post''. 1962 Wellington City Mayoral Election
The 1962 Wellington City mayoral election was part of the New Zealand local elections held that same year. In 1962, elections were held for the Mayor of Wellington plus other local government positions including fifteen city councillors. The polling was conducted using the standard first-past-the-post electoral method. Background Incumbent mayor Frank Kitts was re-elected decisively for a third term over deputy mayor Bill Arcus, substantially increasing his majority.
