Bergstedt () is a quarter of Hamburg, Germany, in the borough of Wandsbek. It is located on the northeastern border of the borough and of the city. It is part of the area of Walddörfer (lit. ''forest villages''). In 2016 10,687 lived in Bergstedt. Geography Bergstedt borders the quarters of Lemsahl-Mellingstedt, Wohldorf-Ohlstedt, Volksdorf, and Sasel. The streams and rivers of Furtbek, Lottbek, Rodenbek, and Saselbek flow through Bergstedt. There are two nature reserves, Hainesch/Iland and Rodenbeker Quellental. Furtbek
The Furtbek is a stream in Hamburg in the outer north-east of the city. Geography The stream begins at the street of ''Volksdorfer Damm'' in the Hamburg quarter of Bergstedt. It then flows westward and joins the Saselbek stream near the nature reserve of Hainesch/Iland, above the Old Mill. The stream name refers to a ford (''Furt-'') and a small stream (''-bek''). Volksdorf () is a Quarter (urban subdivision), quarter of Hamburg. It is situated in the north east of the city, about 15 km from the centre of the city. Volksdorf belongs to the borough of Wandsbek. Wandsbek
Wandsbek () is the second-largest of seven Boroughs and quarters of Hamburg#Boroughs, boroughs that make up the city and state of Hamburg, Germany. The name of the district is derived from the river Wandse which passes through here. Timmermoor
The Timmermoor is a natural monument, about 4 hectares in area, in the southeast of Bergstedt, a quarter of Hamburg, Germany. It was placed under protection by a Hamburg senate act of 4 February 1986. The bog pond is a kettle hole that formed around 20,000 years ago during the last ice age and is surrounded by heathland and woods. Contrary to earlier suppositions that it was a hole scoured out by a tornado, it is now thought that the hollow was formed by the settling of soil layers over thawing dead ice. The area is a habitat for rare bog plants that are sensitive to trampling underfoot and that are only able to live on nutrient-poor soils. Rundling
A ''Rundling'' is a form of circular village, now found only in Northern Germany, typical of settlements in the Germanic-Slav contact zone in the Early Medieval period. The ''Rundling'' was a relatively common village form created by German law, but housing Slav farmers. It usually comprises a central, circular village green owned in common with individually owned farmsteads radiating out around it like the spokes of a wheel. The best examples are now only in a small area of Lower Saxony in Germany near to the town of Lüchow. Nineteen of these villages have been put forward as an ensemble for consideration as a possible World Heritage Site, and a decision is expected in 2023.
