Berger Torrissen
Berger Torrissen or Birger Tørrissen (September 16, 1901 – February 28, 1991) was an American skier. He was born in Sørreisa Municipality, Norway, and later immigrated to the United States. He competed for the United States in Nordic combined and cross-country skiing at the 1936 Winter Olympics with the best result of 11th place in the 4 × 10 km relay. Torrissen coached the US cross-country team at the 1950 World Championships and oversaw the biathlon competition and ski-jumping hill at the 1960 Winter Olympics. Sørreisa ( sme, Ráisavuona suohkan) is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Sørreisa. Other villages include Grunnreisa, Skøelva, and Smørsgård. The municipality is the 248th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Sørreisa is the 218th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 3,414. The municipality's population density is and its population has increased by 1% over the previous 10-year period. Salisbury, Connecticut
Salisbury () is a town situated in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. The town is the northwesternmost in the state of Connecticut; the Massachusetts-New York-Connecticut tri-state marker is located at the northwest corner of the town. The population was 4,194 at the 2020 census. Paul Ottar Satre (September 9, 1908 – July 5, 1984) was an American ski jumping, ski jumper and cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skier Paul Ottar Sætre was born at Trysil in Hedmark, Norway and emigrated to the United States. Between 1930 and 1935 he won 17 skiing meets. He competed in Nordic combined at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. He was a brother of Karl Magnus Satre. He retired from competitive skiing in 1950. He was inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame during 1971. He died in Lakeville, CT during 1984.
