Berga Naval Base
Berga Naval Base ( sv, Berga örlogsbas) is a naval base of the Swedish Navy located in the Hårsfjärden fjard near Berga, Haninge Municipality. Today it is the home of the 4th Naval Warfare Flotilla, the 1st Marine Regiment and Home Guard unit Södertörn Group (''Södertörnsgruppen''). History In the late 1800s, the Swedish Navy began using Hårsfjärden as a training area. Shooting warnings were read in the area's churches and a shooting target workshop was built in a bay on Vitsgarn opposite Märsgarn at Hårsfjärden. From 1904, Hårsfjärden began to be used more permanently as a base for the Coastal Fleet's combat and signal schools and for naval mine training and more. In 1905 it was decided to set up a target depot for a combat school at Vitsgarn. The depot met a great need and grew steadily. The Swedish Naval Warfare Centre ( sv, Sjöstridsskolan, SSS) is a joint naval school of the Swedish Navy which has been operating since 2005. The unit is based in Karlskrona Garrison in Karlskrona. Skeppsholmen is one of the islands of Stockholm. It is connected with Blasieholmen and Kastellholmen by bridges. It is accessible by foot from Kungsträdgården, past the Grand Hôtel and Nationalmuseum, by bus number 65, or by boat from Slussen, Djurgården or Nybroplan. Västerhaninge
Västerhaninge () is a locality situated in Haninge Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden. It had 15,134 inhabitants in 2010. It is connected to Stockholm by commuter rail. Västerhaninge borders the large Hanveden forest to the north, the Jordbro locality to the east, an agricultural region to the south, and the Tungelsta area to the west. The locality lies 22 km from Stockholm and 6 km from Handen. Districts of the locality include Åbylund, Norrskogen, and Jägartorp in the north, and Ribbyberg and Nedersta in the south. The Stockholm-Nynäs railway runs through the town, and the original station building was demolished to make way for a new one in 1997. Berga Naval Training Schools ( sv, Berga örlogsskolor, BÖS) was a military branch school for the Swedish Fleet within the Swedish Navy, which operated in various forms from 1946 to 1997. The staff was located at Berga Naval Base in Haninge Garrison in Berga, Haninge Municipality.
