Berehanu Tsegu
Berehanu Wendemu Tsegu (born 30 September 1999) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He holds a personal best of 27:00.73 minutes for the 10,000 metres. He was the 10,000 metres champion at 2019 African Games. He finished second at the 2018 Corrida de Houilles. In 2019, he also won the Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon with a time of 59:56, only four seconds slower than the course record at the time. He tested positive for erythropoietin (EPO), a banned blood booster, at the 2019 Copenhagen Half Marathon. Though he initially disputed the results, he later admitted to the violation and received a four-year ban from the sport. Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. This occurs when oxygen is present, and the body is able to utilize oxygen to help generate energy and muscle activity. On the other side, anaerobic respiration occurs when the body is deprived of oxygen, and this is common towards the final stretch of races when there is a drive to speed up to a greater intensity. Ethiopian Athletic Federation (EAF) is an IAAF recognized member officially representing Ethiopia as the national governing body for the sport of Athletics. History The history of the sport may be traced back to military and school organizations in 1897. The organization was formed on 4 June 1961. Ethiopians are the native inhabitants of Ethiopia, as well as the global diaspora of Ethiopia. Ethiopians constitute several component ethnic groups, many of which are closely related to ethnic groups in neighboring Eritrea and other parts of the Horn of Africa. The first documented use of the name "Ethiopia" from Greek name "Αἰθίοψ" (Ethiopian) was in the 4th century during the reign of Aksumite king Ezana. Copenhagen Half Marathon
The Copenhagen Half Marathon is an annual half marathon road running event which takes place in September on the city streets of Copenhagen, Denmark, first held in 2015. It is a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race, making it the foremost race of its type in the country. The race features both public and professional elements. The Copenhagen Half Marathon is the largest annual road running event in the city, followed by the more established Copenhagen Marathon, which has been held there since 1980.
