Benny Vigona
Benedict John "Benny" Vigona (born 9 October 1958) is a former Australian rules footballer best known for playing for in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Biography Vigona is from a large extended family who are heavily involved in Northern Territory football. His father, Anastasius, played for St Mary's in Darwin. His brother Tony spent time with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL) without playing a league match before playing with St Mary's. A nephew, Ronnie Burns played in the Australian Football League (AFL) with and . Playing career Vigona made his league debut for South Fremantle in 1977. He was a member of the Bulldogs' 1980 premiership-winning team. He played his last match for South Fremantle in 1986 having played 165 matches. St Mary's Football Club (NTFL)
The St Marys Football Club, nicknamed, Saints, formed in 1952, is an Australian rules football club, affiliated to the Northern Territory Football League. It is famous for its record of success, with 33 NTFL premierships in 52 Grand Finals and 67 out of 70 possible final appearances. To the end of season 2021/22, St Marys have played 1297 games for 935 Wins 351 Losses and 11 Draws. Nicknamed the Saints, St Marys play their home games at Football Park in Marrara. The 1980 WAFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the South Fremantle Football Club and the Swan Districts Football Club, on 27 September 1980 at Subiaco Oval, to determine the premier team of the West Australian Football League (WAFL) for the 1980 season. South Fremantle won the game by 58 points, 23.18 (156) to 15.8 (98), with Maurice Rioli of South Fremantle winning the Simpson Medal as best on ground.
