Benjamin D. James (August 10, 1912 – July 4, 2015) was an American athletics coach, educator, and college administrator. He served as the head football coach at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, in 1942, compiling a record of 1–5. Biography James was born on August 10, 1912, in Plymouth, Pennsylvania. He entered Dickinson College in 1930 on an academic scholarship and participated in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Plymouth, Pennsylvania
Plymouth is a borough (Pennsylvania), borough in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located west of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, Wilkes-Barre, along the Susquehanna River. The population was 5,763 as of the 2020 census. History Plymouth was first settled in 1769 by the Susquehanna Company of Connecticut, and until its incorporation as a borough in 1866, was part of Plymouth Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, Plymouth Township. The Pennamite-Yankee Wars were fought in the surrounding area. The town is situated in the once rich anthracite coal fields of eastern Pennsylvania. Coal was first shipped in 1807. In the past, the products of its manufacturing establishments included miners’ drilling machines and squibs, silk hosiery, and lumber products. Its population peaked in 1910 at 16,996. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop.
