Benjamin Holmes (Canadian Politician)
Benjamin Holmes (April 23, 1794 – May 23, 1865) was a Lower Canada businessman and political figure. He served in the militia of Lower Canada during the War of 1812, including a period of captivity by the American forces. He joined the Bank of Montreal shortly after it formed in 1817, and rose to be the cashier (general manager) by 1827. He was twice a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada. In spite of his service in the War of 1812, he was a supporter of annexation by the United States in the late 1840s, and a signatory of the Montreal Annexation Manifesto. He became a vice-president of the Grand Trunk Railway, and also a director of the Bank of Montreal. Benjamin Holmes (August 8, 1846 – January 14, 1914) was a Democratic Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri 1890–1891. He was the first mayor under a new charter allowing for two-year terms and oversaw the design and construction of the George Kessler-designed parkway system. Ben Holmes (born October 15, 1994) is an American professional gridiron football quarterback who is currently a free agent. He most recently played for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Nassau Community College and Tarleton State. High school career Holmes attended Orchard Park High School, where he initially played wide receiver and won the state title in 2011. He then switched to quarterback and took the Quakers back to the state final. Holmes attended prep school in Texas. College career Holmes first enrolled at Nassau Community College. He then transferred and played for the Tarleton State Texans where he led the team to a 23-2 record in two seasons in Division II. As a senior, Holmes threw for 34 touchdowns and three interceptions. Benjamin Holmes (born 1952) is a man from Cleveland, Ohio, US, who is known for faking his own death and evading detection for 20 years. Biography In 1979, Benjamin Holmes was an auto repairman in Cleveland working on his master's degree in engineering. Holmes was approached by Italian Mafia members and was asked to make a muffler for a gun. He refused, and took the story to the police; however, Holmes was approached by a cop who also began to pressure Holmes to outfit his guns with suppressors. In October 1979, Holmes returned to his home from work and discovered the lights in his house were off, including a light that he had always left on. When he entered his home and hit the light switch, he was engulfed in a fiery explosion. The light switch had been connected to a bomb.
