Bengt Lloyd
Bengt Lloyd (4 March 1928 РJune 2013) was a Swedish people, Swedish trade union leader. Born in Malm̦, Lloyd began working as a clerk at the Swedish Commercial Employees' Union (Handels), where he gradually rose to prominence. In 1953, he was given responsibility for the union's propaganda work, then soon became its education secretary. In 1959, he was put in charge of negotiations, and then in 1968, he became third president of the union. He progressed to vice president in 1974, and president in 1982. In 1987, he additionally became president of the International Federation of Commercial, Clerical, Professional and Technical Employees (FIET). Lloyd retired from his trade union posts in 1991, becoming active in the Swedish Social Democratic Party and chair of Malm̦'s audit committee. Swedish People
Swedes ( sv, svenskar) are a North Germanic ethnic group native to the Nordic region, primarily their nation state of Sweden, who share a common ancestry, culture, history and language. They mostly inhabit Sweden and the other Nordic countries, in particular Finland where they are an officially recognized minority, with a substantial diaspora in other countries, especially the United States. Malmö
Malmö (, ; da, Malmø ) is the largest city in the Swedish county (län) of Scania (Skåne). It is the third-largest city in Sweden, after Stockholm and Gothenburg, and the sixth-largest city in the Nordic region, with a municipal population of 350,647 in 2021. The Malmö Metropolitan Region is home to over 700,000 people, and the Øresund Region, which includes Malmö and Copenhagen, is home to 4 million people. Malmö was one of the earliest and most industrialised towns in Scandinavia, but it struggled to adapt to post-industrialism. Swedish Commercial Employees' Union
The Swedish Commercial Employees' Union ( sv, Handelsanställdas Förbund, Handels), is Sweden's third-largest blue-collar union, with some 145,000 members, of whom around 25,000 are retired. Women make up over 70 percent of its membership. The union was established on 15 April 1906, with the merger of the Malmo Goods Exporters' Union, the Lunds Goods Carriers' Union, the Stockholm Dairy Farmers' Union, the Stockholm Bread Carriers' Union, and the Stockholm Beer Drivers' Union. Although it had only 682 members, it was able to employ a full-time president. In 1910, it joined the Swedish Trade Union Confederation. In 1922, the Swedish Dairy Farmers' Union merged in, followed in 1928 by the Press Agency Staff Union, and the Swedish Cinema Staff Union in 1936, although the cinema workers transferred to the Swedish Musicians' Union in 1952, and the dairy workers transferred to the Swedish Food Workers' Union in 1968. The International Federation of Commercial, Clerical, Professional and Technical Employees (FIET; french: Fédération internationale des employés, techniciens et cadres) was a global union federation bringing together workers representing clerical workers. The union was sometimes known as the International Federation of Employees, Technicians and Managers, or informally as the International Federation of White Collar Workers' Unions. History The first attempt to create an international federation of clerical workers was the International Commercial Employees' Secretariat, founded in Hamburg in 1909, and led by Edo Fimmen. It collapsed at the start of World War I. FIET was founded in 1921, in Vienna, as its replacement. Initially representing only European unions, after World War II the federation began admitting unions from around the world. The Swedish Social Democratic Party, formally the Swedish Social Democratic Workers' Party ( sv, Sveriges socialdemokratiska arbetareparti ; S/SAP), usually referred to as The Social Democrats ( sv, link=no, Socialdemokraterna ), is a social-democratic political party in Sweden. Founded in 1889, the SAP is the country's oldest and currently largest party. From the mid-1930s to the 1980s, the Social Democratic Party won more than 40% of the vote. Jochen Richert
Jochen Richert (30 March 1938 – 3 March 1997) was a German people, German trade union leader. Born in Melsungen, Richert became a miner when he was sixteen, and joined the Union of Mining and Energy. He became increasingly involved in the union, until in 1960, he began working full-time for the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB), as its youth secretary for Fulda and Bad Hersfeld. In 1964, he was promoted to become youth secretary for the whole of Hesse, then in 1971, he became chair of the DGB in Hesse. He also became chair of the DGB's education wing. In 1986, Richert was elected to the national board of the DGB, and in 1990, he additionally became president of the DGB's education wing. In 1991, he also became president of the International Federation of Commercial, Clerical, Professional and Technical Employees. He retired in 1995, due to poor health, and died in 1997.
