Bengal Cricket Team
In India, the Bengal cricket team represents the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) in domestic competition. Based at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, they have played first-class cricket since 1935. Bengal have won the Ranji Trophy twice and been runners-up 13 times. They also play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, both of which they have won once. Several international cricketers have played for the team including Dilip Doshi, Sourav Ganguly, Mohammed Shami, Pankaj Roy, and Wriddhiman Saha. Manoj Tiwary (cricketer)
Manoj Kumar Tiwary (born 14 November 1985) is an Indian cricketer and politician. He is a right-handed batsman who bowls occasional leg break. Tiwary represents Bengal in domestic cricket and played for Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab and Rising Pune Supergiants in the Indian Premier League. He played One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals for the Indian national cricket team. In 2021, he joined All India Trinamool Congress political party and was elected to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly later in the year. Career Tiwary plays as an aggressive right-handed batsman. He made his international debut against Australia in the 2007–08 Commonwealth Bank Series in which he scored only 2 runs in his only innings. He was later included in the India team for the West Indies tour of 2011, as a replacement for Yuvraj Singh, who opted out of the series due to a lung infection. Calcutta Cricket Club
The Calcutta Cricket & Football Club (CC&FC) (formally named as Calcutta Cricket Club) is a multisports club based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Founded in 1792 as a cricket institution, the football and rugby sections were added when it merged with Calcutta FC ( oldest association football club in Asia, founded in 1872) in 1965. Founded as one of the earliest European clubs in Calcutta, British India, Calcutta FC introduced rugby in the country. They later started playing association football and have enjoyed rivalry with fully indigenous clubs, primarily Mohun Bagan. Sports currently practised at the CC&FC include: cricket, football, field hockey, rugby, cycle polo and tennis. Alec Hosie
Alexander Lindsay "Alec" Hosie (6 August 1890 – 11 June 1957) was an English first-class cricketer who played for a large number of teams in England and India. Hosie was a right-handed batsman who bowled occasional right-arm medium pace. Childhood Hosie was the only son of the British diplomat and China expert Sir Alexander Hosie and his first wife, the former Florence Lindsay. He was born in Wenzhou in China and educated in England at St Lawrence College, Ramsgate, and Magdalen College, Oxford. Cricket career Hosie made his first-class cricket debut for Oxford University in 1913 against Kent. He represented the university in five first-class matches in 1913, scoring two half-centuries with a highest score of 60 against the Marylebone Cricket Club. An Australian cricket team toured Ceylon and India in 1935–36, playing 17 first-class matches between October 1935 and February 1936, including four unofficial Tests. Board Of Control For Cricket In India
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India. Its headquarters are situated at Cricket centre, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The BCCI is the richest governing body of cricket in the world and is part of the ''Big Three'' of international cricket, along with Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board. The board was formed in and is a consortium of List of members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, state cricket associations.
