Hiran Chatterjee
Hiran Chatterjee is a Tollywood film actor and a Member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Kharagpur Sadar. He has been working with the non-governmental organisation, Voice of World, which provides aid to visually and physically challenged street children. Early life and education Chatterjee was a resident of Uluberia, a sub-divisional town of Howrah, where he spent his childhood. Political career He was elected as a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Kharagpur Sadar (constituency). He defeated Pradip Sarkar of All India Trinamool Congress by 3,771 votes in 2021 West Bengal Assembly election. He was elected as a councillor for Ward 33 of Kharagpur Municipality in West Bengal Municipal Elections, 2022. Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards commonly referred as BFJA Awards, is given by The Bengal Film Journalists' Association. The BFJA is the oldest association of film critics in India, founded in 1937 to serve the developing film journalism and film industry. Overview Members of the association are drawn from the film section of the entire press of West Bengal composed of dailies, periodicals and film journals in various languages published from Kolkata. Film correspondents and critics working for any newspaper or periodicals published outside Bengal having their base in Kolkata were also eligible to be members of this association. The association was the first to institute awards in an endeavor to promote and encourage the production of better films, when in 1938, a year after its inception, the 1st Motion Picture Congress was held in Faridpur (now in Bangladesh). ''Sathi'' () is a 2002 Indian Bengali-language romantic drama film directed by Haranath Chakraborty. It stars Jeet and Priyanka Trivedi, with the former making his debut. It served as the Bengali remake of the Tamil film, ''Thulladha Manamum Thullum'' (1999) and became the highest-grossing Bengali film of that year. Sathi is notable for being the debut film of actor Jeet, who achieved a major career breakthrough through the same.
