Benelli Adiva
The Benelli Adiva is the first scooter manufactured as a joint venture between Benelli and Adiva SRL. History The Adiva has an innovative folding metal roof, which together with the windscreen and side wind deflectors, offers excellent weather protection for rider and pillion passenger. First displayed in 1999 it was sold to the public between 2001 and 2006. Although similar in looks to the BMW C1, the Adiva's roof is only for weather protection. When not required, the roof can be folded up and stored in rear storage box (80 liters). The Adiva is regarded as having better handling than the C1. The Adiva was offered in 125 and 150 cc versions, which share identical bodywork. The Adiva uses a Piaggio Leader ET4 engine which is also used in the Piaggio Vespa. Benelli Q.J. is an Italian company, based in the city of Pesaro in the Marche region, that produces motorcycles and scooters. It has been speculated that she was the progeny of Edward the Elder, King of England, and his second wife Aelfflaed, but the evidence for this is weak. Favouring the conjecture is the similarity of her name to certain Anglo-Saxon forms, and the introduction of English-influenced coinage into Bohemia. A pillion is a secondary pad, cushion, or seat behind the main seat or saddle on a horse, motorcycle, bicycle or moped. A passenger in this seat is said to "ride pillion". BMW C1
The BMW C1 is an enclosed scooter made by Bertone for BMW. Compared to a conventional scooter, the C1 offered extra safety features and protection from the elements. The rider would sit in a car-type seat (with a four-point seat-belt) and adopt a feet-forward posture. Introduced in 2000, it was available throughout Europe, but sales were disappointing and the C1 was discontinued in 2002. In 2009 the C1-E electric version was presented as a concept. Models The C1 was originally available from May 2000 with a 125 model designation; in 2001, a 200 model was added.
