Bendoc Union Church
Bendoc is a locality in the Shire of East Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. It sits on the Bendoc River. In the 2016 census, Bendoc had a population of 115 people. It was a mining town for many years after the discovery of gold in the Bendoc River in the 1850s, with dairying and sawmilling replacing mining as local industries in later years. The population decreased over time, from about 500 in 1903 to 210 in 1911 and 90 in 1933. The town now contains the Bendoc Hotel (also known as the Commercial Hotel), the Bendoc Hall, a post office, police station, church, cemetery and Country Fire Authority brigade. The town also has a progress association, which operates a neighbourhood house and library outreach centre. Bendoc Police Station opened in 1869. Bendoc Post Office opened on 1 January 1896 and became a licensed post office on 14 July 1994. Division Of Gippsland
The Division of Gippsland is an Australian electoral division in the state of Victoria. The division was proclaimed in 1900, and was one of the original 65 divisions to be contested at the first federal election. 2019–20 Australian Bushfire Season
The 201920 Australian bushfire season (Black Summer), was a period of bushfires in many parts of Australia, which, due to its unusual intensity, size, duration, and uncontrollable dimension, is considered a megafire. The Australian National University reported that the area burned in 2019/2020 was "well below average" due to low fuel levels and fire activity in unpopulated parts of Northern Australia, but that "Despite low fire activity overall, vast forest fires occurred in southeast Australia from southeast Queensland to Kangaroo Island." Delegate River Diversion Tunnel
The Delegate River Diversion Tunnel is a Victorian gold rush diversion tunnel on the Delegate River in east Gippsland, Victoria, Australia - approximately 70 km north-east of Orbost . The river eventually runs through the township of Delegate, New South Wales. The tunnel is approximately 60 m long and diverts the river away from its original course. The tunnel was dug in 1889 by the Delegate River Gold Sluicing Co, which was formed to sluice the terrace wash above the alluvial flats just below the point where the Bendoc to Bonang road crosses the Delegate River. Errinundra National Park
The Errinundra National Park is a national park located in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. The national park is situated east of Melbourne via the Princes Highway and is centred on the Errinundra Plateau, a southwards extension of the Monaro Tablelands of New South Wales. Features The Errinundra National Park preserves the largest remaining cool temperate rainforest in Victoria and supports some of south eastern Australia's most spectacular old growth forests. The Victorian Heritage Register (VHR) lists places deemed to be of cultural heritage significance to the State of Victoria, Australia. It has statutory weight under the Heritage Act 2017. The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is a volunteer fire service responsible for fire suppression, rescues, and response to other accidents and hazards across most of the state Victoria, Australia. The 2016 Australian census was the 17th national population census held in Australia. The census was officially conducted with effect on Tuesday, 9 August 2016. The Bendoc River is a perennial river of the Snowy River catchment, located in the Alpine regions of the states of Victoria and New South Wales, Australia. Course and features The Bendoc River rises within Errinundra National Park on the Errinundra Plateau, approximately south by east of Bendoc, in East Gippsland, Victoria.
