Benard Otieno Okoth is a Kenyan politician. He is a Member of Parliament of Kenya, representing Kibra Constituency, Nairobi County. In September 2019, he was named the Orange Democratic Movement The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is a centre-left political party in Kenya. It is the successor of a grassroots people's movement which was formed during the 2005 Kenyan constitutional referendum campaign. Otieno completed his secondary education in 1995 at Kirangari High School. He worked in different private companies and was constituency manager of Kibra constituency from 2014 until 2019. Kibra Constituency
Kibra Constituency is an electoral constituency in Nairobi, one of 17 constituencies in the county, and has an area of 12.1 km². It is located to the southwest of the City of Nairobi, and includes most of the Kibera slum and adjoining estates. The constituency was created prior to the 2013 general election. ''Kibra'' is a Nubian word meaning 'forest' or 'jungle'. The Nubians have lived in what is now Kibra since the end of the Second World War, when they were allocated land by the British colonial government. The entire constituency is within Nairobi City County. It was part of Lang'ata and Dagoretti constituencies until prior to the 2013 general elections, when it was designated a separate area by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. Nairobi County
Nairobi City County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya. With a population of 4,397,073 in the 2019 census, it is the third smallest yet the most populous of the counties, also serving as the capital of Kenya. In 2013, the county entity was effected, replacing Nairobi City Council, the long-standing unit of administration since pre-independence. The city county consists of eleven gazetted sub-counties and eighty five electoral wards. Orange Democratic Movement
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is a centre-left political party in Kenya. It is the successor of a grassroots people's movement which was formed during the 2005 Kenyan constitutional referendum campaign. This movement separated in August 2007 into the Orange Democratic Movement Party of Kenya and the Wiper Democratic Movement – Kenya (formerly the Orange Democratic MovementKenya, known as ODM–Kenya). The name "orange" originates from the ballot cards in the referendum, in which the banana represented a "yes" vote, and the orange represented a "no" vote. Thus, the parties demonstrates that it supported a no vote in the 2005 referendum. The original linchpins of the ODM were Uhuru Kenyatta's KANU party and Raila Odinga's LDP.
