Benamar Kechkouche
Benamar Kachkouche (born 18 April 1951) is an Algerian former racewalker who competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics. He competed at the 1983 World Championships in Athletics and placed 45th in the 20 kilometres walk. He was Africa's first major continental champion in racewalking, taking gold medals at the inaugural races at the 1978 All-Africa Games and the 1979 African Championships in Athletics The 1979 African Championships in Athletics were held in the Stade Iba Mar Diop in Dakar, Senegal, between 2 and 5 August. Racewalking
Racewalking, or race walking, is a long-distance discipline within the sport of athletics. Although a foot race, it is different from running in that one foot must appear to be in contact with the ground at all times. Referee, Race judges carefully assess that this is maintained throughout the race. Typically held on either roads or running tracks, common distances range from up to 100 kilometres race walk, 100 kilometres (62.1 mi). There are two racewalking distances contested at the Summer Olympics: the 20 kilometres race walk (men and women) and 50 kilometres race walk (men only). Both are held as road events. The 1984 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the XXIII Olympiad and also known as Los Angeles 1984) were an international multi-sport event held from July 28 to August 12, 1984, in Los Angeles, California, United States. 20 Kilometres Walk
The 20 kilometre race walk is an Olympic Games, Olympic athletics (sport), athletics event that is competed by both men and women. The racewalking event is competed as a road race. Athletes must always keep in contact with the ground and the supporting leg must remain straight until the raised leg passes it. The 3rd All-Africa Games – Algiers 1978 was a multi-sport event played from July 13, 1978, to July 28, 1978, in Algiers, Algeria. 45 countries from 49 independent African countries participated in twelve sports.
