Ben Warley
Benjamin Vallentina Warley (September 4, 1936 – April 5, 2002) was an American professional basketball player. A 6'5" forward/guard from Tennessee State University, Warley played five seasons (1962–1967) in the National Basketball Association as a member of the Syracuse Nationals, Philadelphia 76ers, and Baltimore Bullets. He averaged 8.4 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. Warley later played with several teams in the American Basketball Association, representing the Anaheim Amigos in the 1968 ABA All-Star Game. Warley settled in Philadelphia after his playing career was over. Wilkes-Barre Barons
The Wilkes-Barre Barons were a basketball team from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The Barons played between 1933 and 1980 in different American leagues. The team won 11 titles during this time, including while playing in the American Basketball League and the Continental Basketball Association. Points per game, often abbreviated PPG, is the average number of points scored by a player per game played in a sport, over the course of a series of games, a whole season, or a career. Assist (basketball)
In basketball, an assist is attributed to a player who passes the ball to a teammate in a way that leads directly to a score by field goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the basket. An assist is also credited when a basket is awarded due to defensive goaltending. There is some judgment involved in deciding whether a passer should be credited with an assist. In basketball, a rebound, sometimes colloquially referred to as a board, is a statistic awarded to a player who retrieves the ball after a missed field goal or free throw. Rebounds in basketball are a routine part in the game; if a shot is successfully made possession of the ball will change, otherwise the rebound allows the defensive team to take possession. Rebounds are also given to a player who tips in a missed shot on his team's offensive end. A rebound can be grabbed by either an offensive player or a defensive player. 1968 ABA All-Star Game
The first American Basketball Association All-Star Game was played on January 9, 1968, at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, before an audience of 10,872. Jim Pollard (Minnesota Muskies) coached the Eastern Conference team, while Babe McCarthy (New Orleans Buccaneers) coached the West.
