Ben Lowe
Ben Lowe (born 13 March 1985) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played his whole career with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL. He primarily played lock and second-row, but could also fill in as a centre. Early life Born in Toowoomba, Queensland Ben is the brother of Jaiman. He was educated at St Mary's College, Toowoomba Playing career In 2008, Lowe made his first grade debut in Round two for the South Sydney Rabbitohs against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, a game in which he scored the first try of the match and also of his NRL career. In round 25 of 2009 he scored a try in South Sydney's 41–6 flogging of the St. George Illawarra Dragons. Lowe is the younger brother of fellow Rabbitoh Jaiman Lowe. He was selected to be the 18th man in the Queensland squad for the third State Of Origin game in 2010. 2008 South Sydney Rabbitohs Season
The 2008 South Sydney Rabbitohs season was the 99th in the club's history. Coached by Jason Taylor and captained by David Kidwell & Roy Asotasi, the team competed in the National Rugby League's 2008 Telstra Premiership, finishing the regular season in 14th place out of 16 teams and so failing to reach the finals. The club also competed in the 2008 Under-20s competition. On 26 January 2008, the Rabbitohs played the Leeds Rhinos at the Hodges Stadium at University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida, the first time first-grade professional rugby league teams from Australia and England played each other in the United States. The 2012 South Sydney Rabbitohs season was the 103rd in the club's history. They competed in the NRL's 2012 Telstra Premiersip under rookie coach Michael Maguire and finished the regular season 3rd (out of 16), Having made the finals for the 2nd since 1989, the Rabbitohs then came to within one game of the 2012 NRL Grand final but were knocked out of contention by eventual grand finalists the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. Pre-season The Rabbitohs played three pre-season games in 2012. The Rabbitohs were initially planned to play the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at the fourth annual Return to Redfern, then the Warrington Wolves in Coffs Harbour. However, due to a scheduling clash with Warrington's first season match, the games were rescheduled. The changes meant the clash with Warrington would need to be in late January, and Redfern Oval played host to its first international match in the re-developed configuration.
