Ben Jay Crossman is a Britishborn South African raised graffiti-style street artist, concept artist, illustrator, photographer, film producer, and director, known for his collaborations with Roger Ballen and Die Antwoord. Works Veronika Between 2010 and 2015, Crossman painted his graffiti-style street art under the moniker ‘a boy named Veronika’. A short film about ‘a boy named Veronika’, directed by Crossman, created for the 48 Hour Film Project Johannesburg 2012, achieved second place overall as well as awards for editing, special effects, and sound design. Streets of Fietas Between 2010 and 2012, Crossman filmed and released ‘The Streets of Fietas’. Fietas
Pageview is a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is located in Region F of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. Populated by non-whites, predominantly Indians, until the 1970s, it was one of two adjacent suburbs (Pageview, and the portion of Vrededorp south of 11th Street populated by non-whites) commonly known as Fietas. History In 1894, the land that would eventually become Pageview, was allocated by the South African Republic for Cape Coloureds (including Malays) and it became populated by Cape Malays. It was known as the ''Malay Camp'' (later ''Malay Location'') with 279 stands. Jack Parow
Zander Tyler (born February 22, 1982), better known under his stage name Jack Parow, is a South African rapper who has collaborated with other South African artists such as Die Heuwels Fantasties, Die Antwoord and Francois Van Coke. Career Parow wanted to be a rapper since he was in primary school. He used to rap with friend Keagan Cloete aka ''cutie cloete'', citing Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle as an initial inspiration as well as the likes of T-Pain. Although he started rapping in English, he soon decided that he preferred Afrikaans. Van Coke Kartel
Van Coke Kartel is an Afrikaans alternative rock band from Bellville, near Cape Town, South Africa. Band history Francois Van Coke and Wynand Myburgh formed Van Coke Kartel with drummer Justin Kruger after Fokofpolisiekar went on hiatus in 2007. Guitarist Jedd Kossew and drummer Jason Oosthuizen joined as full members in 2010. However in 2014, Jason Oosthuizen left the band. Their new drummer Dylan Hunt started in January 2014. Notable achievements Van Coke Kartel has been one of the most successful Afrikaans rock bands in South Africa. 48 Hour Film Project
The 48 Hour Film Project is an annual film competition in which teams of filmmakers are assigned a genre, a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue, and have 48 hours to create a short film containing those elements. The competition has been active since 2001. In the weeks after the 48 hours of filmmaking are complete, screenings are held in each city and a winner is chosen to represent that city at Filmapalooza—a festival that features "best of" screenings of the winners from each city.
