Ben Chatwin
Ben Chatwin is an English musician who resides in Scotland. He previously performed under the name Talvihorros. He has released two albums, under his own name and five as Talvihorros. His most recent'', Heat & Entropy'' (2016) appeared on Ba Da Bing Records while his previous outings appeared on Denovali Records, Denovali and Hibernate Records. He has performed live globally. Besides his own work, Chatwin does bespoke music for adverts such as Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, Tate Modern and Volkswagen. Career Chatwin was born in Portsmouth and began to explore music as a teenager. He moved to Brighton in his late teens to study Digital Music, while recording the self-released "It's Already on Fire" demo . Upon completion of his studies in 2004 he relocated to London. After playing in a number of bands, he began to use the name Talvihorros (meaning hibernation in Finnish) for his music in 2008. Diddley Bow
The diddley bow is a single-stringed American instrument which influenced the development of the blues sound. It consists of a single string of baling wire tensioned between two nails on a board over a glass bottle, which is used both as a bridge and as a means to magnify the instrument's sound. It was traditionally considered a starter or children's instrument in the Deep South, especially in the African American community, and is rarely heard outside the rural South. It may have been influenced to some degree by West African instruments. Other nicknames for this instrument include "jitterbug" or "one-string", while an ethnomusicologist would formally call it a "monochord zither". A dulcitone is a keyboard instrument in which sound is produced by a range of tuning forks, which vibrate when struck by felt-covered hammers activated by the keyboard. The instrument was designed by Thomas Machell of Glasgow in the 1860s, at the same time as Victor Mustel's organologically synonymous typophone, and manufactured by the firm of Thomas Machell & Sons during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Incubate (festival)
Incubate was an annual multidisciplinary arts festival held every September in Tilburg, Netherlands from 2005 to 2016. It was originally named ZXZW, but changed its name in 2009 to "Incubate" after a request from the Austin, US-based festival SXSW. The festival exhibited indie culture events including music, contemporary dance, film and visual arts. It hosted more than 200 artists to an international audience, with performances of black metal, free jazz, street art and academic dance taking place alongside one another.
