Ben Abraham
Ben Abraham (born Henryk Nekrycz; December 11, 1924 – October 9, 2015) was a Polish-born writer and historian who became a naturalized Brazilian citizen. He was the son of Abraham Nekrycz and Ida Nekrycz. Abraham was born in Łódź, Poland. Abraham survived the ghetto in the city and the concentration camps during the years of German occupation of his country. Abraham's parents were murdered in the Auschwitz concentration camp. After Auschwitz he spent time in three other concentration camps: Braunschweig, , and Ravensbrück. On the night of May 1, 1945, he was released, weighing and suffering from tuberculosis in both lungs, scurvy and dysentery. Among Abraham's 200 relatives he and his cousin were the only ones who survived. Ben Abraham spent the next two years being transferred between several American hospitals in Germany, eventually achieving a full recovery. Łódź
Łódź, also rendered in English as Lodz, is a city in central Poland and a former industrial centre. It is the capital of Łódź Voivodeship, and is located approximately south-west of Warsaw.
