Francis Boggs
Francis Winter Boggs (March 1870 – October 27, 1911) was an American stage actor and pioneer silent film film director, director. He was one of the first to direct a film in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, Hollywood. Biography He was born in Santa Rosa, California to George W. Boggs and Alabama McMeans. While in his teens he began acting with the Alcazar stock company in San Francisco and toured the Southwestern United States, American southwest. In 1900, he moved to Los Angeles, but in 1902, he went to Chicago, where he continued to work in theatre. There, he met William Nicholas Selig and in 1907 became involved with the making of motion pictures at Selig's Selig Polyscope Company, Polyscope studios in Chicago. With cameraman and jack of all trades Thomas Persons, Boggs made one of his earliest films, ''Monte Cristo''. He used the name William Goodrich on the films he directed from 1924 onward. Arbuckle's films share the common fate of silent movies. Of the hundreds of features and shorts in which he appeared between 1909 and 1933, only about half are known to have survived, and many exist only in fragmentary form. Further, there is no single source from which the remaining Arbuckle library can be accessed. William Selig
William Nicholas Selig (March 14, 1864 – July 15, 1948) was a pioneer of the American motion picture industry. In 1896 he created one of the first film production companies, Selig Polyscope Company of Chicago. Selig produced a string of commercially successful films in the early years of the film industry. His '' The Tramp and the Dog'' (1896) is considered the first narrative film set in Chicago. Selig claimed to have made the first narrative film shot in Los Angeles, '' The Count of Monte Cristo'', and, in 1909, established what may have been the first permanent L.A. studio, in Edendale, Los Angeles. He also produced the first Wizard of Oz film in 1910, the first U.S. company to shoot a two-reel film, ''Damon and Pythias'' (1908), and the first true serial, '' The Adventures of Kathlyn'' (1913–1914). Harry Todd
Harry Todd (December 13, 1863 – February 15, 1935) was an American actor. He appeared in nearly 400 films between 1909 and 1935. On Broadway, Todd was a member of the ensemble in '' The American Way'' (1939). Todd died in Glendale, California, from a heart attack at the age of 71. He was married to actress Margaret Joslin.
