Belsize () is a ward in the London Borough of Camden, in the United Kingdom. The ward covers most of Belsize Park, between Haverstock Hill, Swiss Cottage, and Primrose Hill. The population of this ward at the 2011 Census was 12,702. It was launched by editor Eric Gordon (who died on 5 April 2021, aged 89) in 1982 following a two-year strike at its predecessor, the ''Camden Journal''. Oliver Cooper (politician)
Oliver Cooper (born 1987) is an English Conservative politician and a prominent party activist. He was the leader of the party on Camden London Borough Council representing Hampstead Town. Career Cooper attended Dr Challoner's Grammar School and University College London. He is a lawyer and a former journalist. He was elected to represent Hampstead Town ward on Camden Council in 2015. He became the Leader of the Opposition after the 2018 elections. Ahead of the 2022 Camden Borough elections, Cooper chose to move from his 'safe' Conservative ward to the Tory-Liberal Democrat split ward of Belsize to try to increase his party's number of seats. He increased his party's share of the vote and came first among the Conservative candidates, but lost to the Lib Dems, ending his career in local government. Frognal and Fitzjohns was a ward in the London Borough of Camden, the United Kingdom. The ward was created for the 2002 elections and covered the western areas of Hampstead, between Hampstead Village and Finchley Road and took its name from Frognal and Fitzjohn's Avenue. The population of this ward at the 2011 Census was 11,986. Frognal and Fitzjohns was represented by three councillors on Camden Borough Council. Primrose Hill (ward)
Primrose Hill is a ward in the London Borough of Camden, in the United Kingdom. The ward represents the area of the same name, and the eastern part of the Swiss Cottage area. The ward was first used for the 2022 Camden London Borough Council election, and elects three councillors to Camden London Borough Council. Most of its area was previously in the Camden Town with Primrose Hill and Swiss Cottage wards, which were be abolished at the same time, and a small part was transferred from the Belsize ward. In 2018, the ward had an electorate of 8,982. The Boundary Commission projects the electorate to rise to 9,049 in 2025. The ward contains a part of Primrose Hill park, Swiss Cottage Library and the Hampstead Theatre. Schools in the ward include UCL Academy, Swiss Cottage special school and St Paul's CE primary.
