Belmar, Nebraska
Belmar is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Keith County, Nebraska, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 216. History Belmar got its start following construction of the Union Pacific Railroad through the territory. It was likely named for a railroad official. A post office was established at Belmar in 1910, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1941. Geography Belmar is in northwestern Keith County, on the north side of Lake McConaughy, a reservoir on the North Platte River. Nebraska Highway 92 runs through the community, leading west to Lewellen and east to Lemoyne. Ogallala, the Keith county seat, is to the southeast via Highways 92 and 61. Belmar (horse)
Belmar (foaled in 1892) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse owned by James Galway's Preakness Stables of Preakness, New Jersey. Racing career Belmar was trained by Edward Feakes and ridden by future U.S. Racing Hall of Fame jockey Fred Taral. He earned his first victory just four days before he ran in the 1895 Preakness. He nonetheless went off as the second choice and won by a length. That year, the Belmont was held on November 2 because, according to the official chart, "New York Jockey Club closed out its affairs. Race run under the jurisdiction of the Westchester Racing Association." Belmar, who was the fourth choice in a field of five, won by a neck over the favorite, Counter Tenor, while carrying 7 pounds less. In 1896, Belmar won the Manhattan Handicap at Morris Park Racecourse in The Bronx, New York. In 1897, he won the Ocean Handicap at Sheepshead Bay Race Track in Brooklyn. Lincoln–Lemington–Belmar is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is located in the northeastern section of the city and spans the Allegheny River. Nazario Belmar
Nazario Belmar Martínez (25 October 1919, in Elda – 9 July 1980, in Madrid) was a Spanish footballer, film producer and lawyer. A midfielder, Belmar began playing at CD Eldense before the Spanish Civil War and, after, at Hércules CF. He signed with Real Madrid CF when he was 19. In a match with Real Betis in the 1946–47 season, he was seriously injured and he had to announce his retirement. In 1957 he established Naga Films with Marcelino Galatas Rentería, making films as ''El verdugo'' with Rafael Azcona and Luis García Berlanga. Because of the Spanish television pressions, he abandoned Naga Films to establish in 1964 Belmar P.C., filming Pedro Lazaga's ''Un vampiro para dos''. Finally, in 1965 he abandoned this career.
