Bob Bellemore
Bob Bellemore (born October 26, 1940) is a known presence in Rhode Island's ice hockey and baseball communities. He is a former standout goaltender and baseball player for Providence College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. He has also served as the goaltending coach for the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils. Early life and education Bellemore was born in Providence, Rhode Island, where he graduated from La Salle Academy in 1959. He later attended Providence College. In 1964 Bellemore, then a sophomore, led the Providence College ice hockey team to its first-ever ECAC Hockey championship and first-ever birth into the NCAA final four. He also starred on the diamond. Appropriately a catcher and third baseman, he played for four years at Providence College, and served as a captain his senior year. Brett Bellemore
Brett Bellemore (born June 25, 1988) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who most recently played with Esbjerg Energy in the Metal Ligaen (DEN). He previously played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Carolina Hurricanes. Bellemore was selected in the 6th round, 162nd overall, by the Hurricanes in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Bellemore played major junior with the Plymouth Whalers in the Ontario Hockey League before he was signed to a three-year entry level contract with the Hurricanes on May 15, 2008. On July 8, 2011, Bellemore signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. The contract was worth $525,000 per year at the NHL level and $70,000 per year at the AHL level. History of the Canadian Bellemares The Bellemares share a common ancestor with the Gélinas: Étienne Gellineau, a , or maker of serge fabric, from La Salenderie, close to Saintes in France's Saintonge area (now known as Charente-Maritime).
