Bellamy-Philips House (also known as Oak Forest Plantation) is a historic plantation house and a later home located near Battleboro, Nash County, North Carolina. Description and history The Green House dates to the early 19th century, and is a two-story three-bay, single pile, Late Georgian/Federal style frame dwelling. The Philips House was built in 1905, and is a cubical two-story, two room deep central hall plan frame dwelling with a pyramidal slate roof. It features a one-story front porch with a conical roofed circular Classical Revival portico and Ionic order The Ionic order is one of the three canonic orders of classical architecture, the other two being the Doric and the Corinthian. Battleboro is a former town and community in the city of Rocky Mount in Edgecombe and Nash counties of North Carolina, United States. History In 1835 Joseph S. Battle established Battle's Camp along the Wilmington and Raleigh Railroad. Georgian architecture is the name given in most English-speaking countries to the set of architectural styles current between 1714 and 1830. The Ionic order is one of the three canonic orders of classical architecture, the other two being the Doric and the Corinthian. There are two lesser orders: the Tuscan (a plainer Doric), and the rich variant of Corinthian called the composite order.
