Bell, New South Wales
Bell (postcode: 2786) is a small rural and residential village in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales, Australia. It is the north-westernmost village in the City of Blue Mountains, located approximately west of Sydney central business district by road or by rail, approximately east of Lithgow and north of Mount Victoria. It is a locality on the junction of the Bells Line of Road, Chifley Road and the Darling Causeway, with an elevation of approximately . Description and history Bell is named after Archibald Bell, Jr., who was the first colonial man to map the route over the Blue Mountains via Richmond. This crossing had been partly explored by colonial explorer George Caley, who went as far as Mount Banks in 1804, but Bell was the first colonial explorer to go the whole way from the Richmond area to the Bell area thanks to Indigenous guides, Darug men Emery and Cogy, who were already quite familiar with the route. Great Western Highway (also known as Broadway from to , Parramatta Road from Chippendale to , and Church Street through Parramatta) is a state highway in New South Wales, Australia. From east to west, the highway links Sydney with Bathurst, on the state's Central Tablelands. Colo River
The Colo River, a perennial stream that is part of the Hawkesbury-Nepean catchment, is located in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia. Course The Colo River rises on the Great Dividing Range, northeast of Newnes, formed by the confluence of the Wolgan River and the Capertee River, which respectively drain the Wolgan and Capertee Valleys north of Lithgow. Colo River flows eastwards and then south through a deep gorge in the northern section of the Blue Mountains. The majority of the river lies in Wollemi National Park. The middle Colo is inaccessible, rugged and remote. Wollangambe River
The Wollangambe River, an Australian perennial river that is part of the HawkesburyNepean catchment within the Sydney Basin, is located in the Greater Blue Mountains Area of New South Wales. Course and features The Wollangambe River rises about southeast of Happy Valley Springs, below Newnes Junction and within the Great Dividing Range. The river flows generally east and then north northeast, joined by three minor tributaries, mainly through rugged country that comprises Wollemi and Blue Mountains national parks. Blue Mountains National Park
The Blue Mountains National Park is a protected national park that is located in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales, in eastern Australia. The national park is situated approximately west of Sydney, and the park boundary is quite irregular as it is broken up by roads, urban areas and inholdings. Despite the name mountains, the area is an uplifted plateau, dissected by a number of larger rivers. The highest point in the park is Mount Werong at above sea level; while the low point is on the Nepean River at above sea level as it leaves the park. Richmond, New South Wales
Richmond is a town in New South Wales, in the local government area of the City of Hawkesbury. It is located 19 metres above sea level on the alluvial Hawkesbury River flats, at the foot of the Blue Mountains on the Cumberland Plain. It is about 65 km by road from Sydney and about 78 km by road from Lithgow. History The Darug people were the Aboriginal peoples to the area in 1788.
