Basketball Belgium (french: Basketball Belgique, nl, Basketbal België, german: Basketball Belgien) is the governing body of basketball in Belgium. It was founded in 1933, and they became members of FIBA the same year. They are headquartered in Brussels. Basketball Belgium operates the Belgium men's national team and Belgium women's national team. They organise national competitions in Belgium, for both the men's and women's senior teams, and also the youth national basketball teams. The top professional league in Belgium is the BNXT League. The Belgium men's national basketball team nl, Belgisch nationaal basketbalteamgerman: Belgische Basketballnationalmannschaft has represented Belgium in international basketball since 1928. The supervising body for the national team is Basketball Belgium. Belgium has qualified for the EuroBasket 18 times throughout their history, achieving their best result at the event in 1947, where they finished in fourth place. Moreover, Belgium has competed at the Olympic Games on three occasions, in 1936, 1948, and 1952. However, Belgium is still in pursuit of making their first appearance at the FIBA World Cup. FIBA 3x3 World Cup
The FIBA 3x3 World Cup is a 3x3 basketball tournament for national teams organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The debut of the tournament then named as the FIBA 3x3 World Championship was held in August 2012 in Athens, Greece. The current champions are Serbia in the men's division and France in the women's division. There are two events in the tournament; one for men and another for women. In the first edition, there was a mixed event where each team was composed of 2 men and 2 women. The 2012 FIBA 3x3 World Championships, hosted by Greece, was the first edition of the FIBA 3x3 World Championships, an international 3x3 basketball event that featured separate competitions for men's, women's and mixed national teams. The tournament ran from 23 August to 26 August 2012, held in front of the Zappeion. It was co-organized by the FIBA. Serbia won the men's title after defeating France 16–13 in the men's final. The US won the women's title after defeating France in the final, while France defeated Argentina for the mixed team final.
