Belgium In The Eurovision Song Contest 2007
Belgium participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Love Power" written by Paul Curtiz and Wakas Ashiq. The song was performed by the band The KMG's, which was internally selected by the Walloon broadcaster Radio Télévision Belge de la Communauté Française (RTBF) in February 2007 to represent the nation at the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland. The song, "Love Power", was released on 23 February 2007 and officially presented to the public on 26 February 2007. This was the first time that a Walloon entry was performed in English at the Eurovision Song Contest. Belgium competed in the semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 10 May 2007. Performing during the show in position 24, "Love Power" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final. The KMG's
The ''KMG's'' (Krazy Mess Groovers) is a Belgium, Belgian group that won the chance to represent Belgium with the song "Love Power (The KMG's song), Love Power" in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki, Finland. Since the Eurovision Song Contest only allow six performers on stage at one time, a part of the group did not perform at the song contest. Those who participated were Sexyfire, Mr Scotch, Mr French Kiss, Big Boss, Mr Cream and Lady Soulflower. Baptiste Lalieu better known as Saule sometimes stylized SAULE in all capital letters, (born 25 September 1977) is a Belgian singer-songwriter who has found recognition and chart success with his single " Dusty Men" (featuring Charlie Winston) followed by his album '' Géant'', that includes French music with Anglo-Saxon rock sound and country music influences. He is signed to the "30 février" record label. Saule started writing music releasing his first EP, ''Saule'', of four tracks on "30 février" in November 2005, followed by his first album ''Vous êtes ici'' in March 2006 on the same label with distribution rights to the Bang label. Maureen Louys
Maureen Louys (born 3 November 1978 in Liège) is a Belgian television presenter. Career In 2005 she co-presented the 2005 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with Marcel Vanthilt. Louys still remained associated with the regular Eurovision Song Contest as giving out the Belgian televotes during the voting in 2007, 2009 and 2011. Following the death of Jean-Pierre Hautier in October 2012, Louys is currently the RTBF Eurovision Commentator, together with colleague Jean-Louis Lahaye. Michel Follet
Michel Follet (born 16 December 1959) is a Flemish radio and TV host and a film critic. Follet started his radio career for VRT as a disc jockey on Radio 2 in 1982. In 1992 Follet co-founded Radio Donna and presented the show ''Jabbedabbedoe''. Between 1994 and 2015 he was film critic for the regional channel ATV in Antwerp. In 1996 Follet provided the VRT television commentary for the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest (alongside Johan Verstreken) when regular commentator André Vermeulen was unable to make it to Oslo to commentate. In addition Follet has provided the VRT Radio commentary every year since the 1997 Contest and in 1999 he won the Eurovision Song Contest awards. Jean-Pierre Hautier (18 October 1955 – 12 October 2012) was a Belgian television presenter and broadcaster for RTBF. Hautier was known for his long-time commentary for RTBF viewers on the Eurovision Song Contest which he has done since the 1994 Contest after the regular commentator Claude Delacroix got promoted to the head of Belgian radio. André Vermeulen
André Leopold Adiel Vermeulen (born 25 October 1955 in Bruges) is a Belgian-Flemish journalist and television personality for VRT. Between 1991 and 2013, Vermeulen following Luc Appermont had been the Flemish commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest. Due to unknown reasons in 1996, Vermeulen was unable to commentate on the 1996 Contest with Michel Follet and Johan Verstreken filling in, however returning to commentate on the 1997 Contest, since the 1998 Contest Vermeulen has co-commentated the event with other television presenters including Bart Peeters and Tom De Cock. Bart August Maria Peeters (born 30 November 1959) is a Belgian singer, musician, television presenter and actor. Biography Early years Peeters studied Germanic philology and drama in Antwerp. Slovenia In The Eurovision Song Contest 2007
Slovenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Cvet z juga" written by Andrej Babić. The song was performed by Alenka Gotar. Slovenian broadcaster Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTV Slovenija) organised the national final ''EMA 2007'' in order to select the Slovenian entry for the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland. The national final consisted of two semi-finals and a final where the winner was selected over two rounds of public voting. The top two entries in the first round competed in the second round where "Cvet z juga" performed by Alenka Gotar was eventually selected as the winner.
