Belgium In The Eurovision Song Contest 2005
Belgium participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "Le grand soir" written by Alec Mansion and Frédéric Zeitoun. The song was performed by Nuno Resende. The Belgian entry for the 2005 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine was selected through the national final ''Finale Nationale Concours Eurovision de la Chanson 2005'', organised by the Walloon broadcaster Radio Télévision Belge de la Communauté Française (RTBF). In the final on 20 March 2005 which featured two competing entries, "Le grand soir" performed by Nuno Resende was selected as the winner after gaining 50.2% of the public televote. Nuno Resende
Nuno Resende (born 25 June 1973) is a Portugal, Portuguese singer. Biography Early life Nuno was born in Porto, and is an only child. He enrolled at the French school of Porto when he was 5. His family moved to Belgium when he was 12. He is also a Belgian national. As a sport fanatic, he took a training in sports. In 1985, he was admitted into the European School of Brussels. He took part in tournaments, especially the Espérance tennis tournament. Between 1993 and 1996, he attended the Physical Education School where he took a teacher training course for ''regents''. He then decided to attempt a musical career. He formed many hard-rock bands. He takes part in ''Pour la Gloire'', a talent contest on the RTBF in 1997. SABAM
SABAM is one of the Belgian associations of authors, composers and publishers. The bilingual acronym stands for "Société d'Auteurs Belge – Belgische Auteurs Maatschappij". Their headquarters is located at 75–77 rue d'Arlon in Brussels. SABAM was founded in 1922 at the instigation of the composer under the name NAVEA. In 1945 it changed to its current name. Michel Follet
Michel Follet (born 16 December 1959) is a Flemish radio and TV host and a film critic. Follet started his radio career for VRT as a disc jockey on Radio 2 in 1982. In 1992 Follet co-founded Radio Donna and presented the show ''Jabbedabbedoe''. Between 1994 and 2015 he was film critic for the regional channel ATV in Antwerp. In 1996 Follet provided the VRT television commentary for the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest (alongside Johan Verstreken) when regular commentator André Vermeulen was unable to make it to Oslo to commentate. In addition Follet has provided the VRT Radio commentary every year since the 1997 Contest and in 1999 he won the Eurovision Song Contest awards. Anja Daems (born 26 May 1968) is a Belgian radio presenter and television host. Biography Daems spent her childhood in Geel. She studied at the Conservatory in Antwerp. André Vermeulen
André Leopold Adiel Vermeulen (born 25 October 1955 in Bruges) is a Belgian-Flemish journalist and television personality for VRT. Between 1991 and 2013, Vermeulen following Luc Appermont had been the Flemish commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest. Due to unknown reasons in 1996, Vermeulen was unable to commentate on the 1996 Contest with Michel Follet and Johan Verstreken filling in, however returning to commentate on the 1997 Contest, since the 1998 Contest Vermeulen has co-commentated the event with other television presenters including Bart Peeters and Tom De Cock. The Eurovision Song Contest 2004 was the 49th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Istanbul, Turkey, following the country's victory at the with the song "Everyway That I Can" by Sertab Erener.
