Belarus Olympic Committee
The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus (, ) was one of many national Olympic committees that make up the International Olympic Committee. On February 26, 2022, in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its treatment of Belarusian athletes, the International Olympic Committee suspended the NOC RB. Created in 1991, the NOC RB ( be, НОК РБ), was charged with selecting athletes to represent Belarus in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, enforcing anti- doping laws and promoting sporting activity inside Belarus. The current president of the NOC RB is Victor Lukashenko, the son of the current President of Belarus. Canoeing At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's K-4 1000 Metres
The men's K-4 1000 metres competition in canoeing at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place at the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park in Beijing between August 18 and 22. The K-4 event is raced in four-person kayaks. Competition consists of three rounds: the heats, the semifinals, and the final. All boats compete in the heats. The top three finishers in each of the two heats advance directly to the final, while the remaining four finishers in each heat move on to the semifinal. Ekaterina Karsten ( be, Кацярына Карстэн, ''Kaciaryna Karsten''; russian: Екатерина Карстен; born 2 June 1972) is a Belarusian rower, a seven-time Olympian and first medalist from Republic of Belarus, a two-time Olympic champion and six-time World Champion in the single scull. Karsten won Olympic gold in the single sculls in Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens she won a silver medal and in 2008 in Beijing she picked up a bronze. She also won at the World Championships in single sculls in 1997, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009, was runner up in 2002 and 2010 and got bronze in 2001 and 2003. She won the European Championships in 2009 and 2010. She won the world junior championships in 1990. Men's freestyle 74 kilograms competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, was held on August 20 at the China Agricultural University Gymnasium. This freestyle wrestling competition consisted of a single-elimination tournament, with a repechage used to determine the winner of two bronze medals. The two finalists faced off for gold and silver medals. Each wrestler who lost to one of the two finalists moved into the repechage, culminating in a pair of bronze medal matches featuring the semifinal losers each facing the remaining repechage opponent from their half of the bracket. Each bout consisted of up to three rounds, lasting two minutes apiece. Wrestling competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, were held at the China Agricultural University Gymnasium from 12–21 August 2008. It was split into two disciplines, Freestyle and Greco-Roman which are further divided into different weight categories. Men competed in both disciplines whereas women only took part in the freestyle events with 18 gold medals being awarded. This was the second Olympics with women's wrestling as an event. Murad Gaidarov ( be, Мурад Гайдараў, russian: Мурад Гайдаров; born February 13, 1980, in Khasavyurt, Dagestan), also known as Murad Haidarau, is an Avar Russian - Belarusian wrestler. Gaidarov was disqualified from 2004 Summer Olympics for retaliating after he was defeated at the quarterfinals and assaulted his opponent, Buvaisar Saitiev, off the arena floor. Gaidarov won the bronze medal in men's 74 kg freestyle wrestling at the 2008 Summer Olympics, but after a failed drug test by Soslan Tigiev, he won a silver medal. Gymnastics At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's Rhythmic Individual All-around
Women's rhythmic individual all-around competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held at the Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium. There were two rounds of competition in the individual competition. In each round, competing gymnasts performed four routines. One routine was performed with each of the four apparatus: hoop, clubs, rope, and ribbon. The combined scores from the four routines made up the preliminary round score. The top ten gymnasts after the preliminary round advanced to the finals. There, they performed each routine again. Preliminary scores were ignored, and the top combined final scores won. Eight gymnasts arrived from the past olympic games and six of them were able to repeat an olympic final, Almudena Cid from Spain competed in a record 4th olympic games with their respective finale being thereby the rhythmic gymnast that has reached the most finals. Andrei Sergeyevich Krauchanka ( be, Андрэй Сяргеевіч Краўчанка; also transliterated as ''Andrey Kravchenko'') (born 4 January 1986) is a Belarusian decathlete. He was the silver medallist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. His personal best score of 8617 points is the Belarusian record for the event. He also holds the national indoor record in the heptathlon with 6282 points. Krauchanka was a talented combined events athlete from a young age: he broke the world youth best for the octathlon and was runner-up at the 2003 World Youth Championships in Athletics.
