Beith Juniors
Beith Juniors Football Club are a Scottish football club from the town of Beith, North Ayrshire. Members of the Scottish Junior Football Association, they compete in the West of Scotland Football League. Beith play at Bellsdale Park. Their main rival is Kilbirnie Ladeside. History Formed in 1938, they play in black and white strips (uniforms) and their nicknames are ''the Cabes'' or ''the Mighty''. They were formed as a junior football successor to the disbanded senior side Beith, who had previously competed in the Scottish Football League. In the club's first season in 1939–40 they reached the District Cup Final and finished as runners up and then the second world war stopped football. In the 1940s the club were mostly a mid table club and reached the Ayrshire Cup final in 1948–49 but again finished as runners up. Bellsdale Park
Bellsdale Park is a football ground in Beith, Scotland. It was the home ground of Beith F.C. during their time in the Scottish Football League, and is currently the home ground of Beith Juniors. Greenock (; sco, Greenock; gd, Grianaig, ) is a town and administrative centre in the Inverclyde council area in Scotland, United Kingdom and a former burgh within the historic county of Renfrewshire, located in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. Beith is a small town in the Garnock Valley, North Ayrshire, Scotland approximately south-west of Glasgow. The town is situated on the crest of a hill and was known originally as the "''Hill o' Beith''" (hill of the birches) after its ''Court Hill''. History Name Beith's name is thought to emanate from Ogham, which is sometimes referred to as the "''Celtic Tree Alphabet''", ascribing names of trees to individual letters. ''Beithe'' in Old Irish means ''Birch-tree'' (cognate to Latin ''betula''). There is reason to believe that the whole of the district was covered with woods. The town of Beith itself was once known as 'Hill of Beith' as this was the name of the feudal barony and was itself derived from the Court Hill near Hill of Beith Castle. Ayrshire Junior Football League
The Ayrshire Junior Football League, known as the Western Junior League from 1919 until 1968, was a football league competition operated in Ayrshire under the Scottish Junior Football Association which operated until a merger in 2002. The league was formed in the aftermath of World War I, primarily from clubs in the territory which today is North Ayrshire that had participated in smaller leagues such as the ''Irvine & District'' competition. SJFA West Region Championship
The SJFA West Region Championship (known as the McBookie.com West Region Championship for sponsorship reasons) was a Scottish semi-professional football competition run by the West Region of the Scottish Junior Football Association and was the second tier of league competition for its member clubs. Formerly known as the West of Scotland Super League First Division, the league began in 2002 when top sides from the former Ayrshire and Central Regions agreed to form two combined Super League divisions above the regional competitions. Originally comprising twelve clubs, it was expanded to fourteen after two years as promotion/relegation places were increased. The West of Scotland Junior Challenge Cup was an annual Scottish football competition played in a one-leg knockout format (played at 'home' team grounds as drawn, until the final at a neutral venue), organised by the West Region of the Scottish Junior Football Association. After the entire West Region joined the senior pyramid structure in 2020, a new league competition was started, the West of Scotland League, and with it the new West of Scotland League Cup. Carlo Monti (footballer)
Carlo Gordon Monti (born 10 July 1990) is a Scottish professional footballer, who plays for Beith Juniors in the West of Scotland League. He has previously played at Scottish Championship level for Greenock Morton and Dundee. Club career Monti started his career with Celtic, signing as a nine-year-old and working his way through the ranks to the Celtic first team squad where he was earmarked as an attacking wing-back by the late Tommy Burns. He left the club at 18 to sign for Greenock Morton in April 2009. Monti scored the first goal of his senior career with a 20-yard drive in the 2–1 defeat away at Dunfermline. He also scored the winning goal as Morton avoided relegation, at the same time relegating Ayr United, on 1 May 2010. Monti rejected a new contract offer at Morton, and after a potential move to Dundee fell through, he was left without a club. Ruaridh Langan
Ruaridh Langan (born 15 June 1998) is a Scottish footballer who plays for club Auchinleck Talbot. Club career Langan came through the Greenock Morton youth academy, to rise to become the captain of the successful under-20 side and spent time on loan at Neilston. He made his first-team debut in a Scottish League Cup tie against Edinburgh City in July 2017. In late September 2018, Langan and team-mate Lewis Strapp joined Annan Athletic on a short-term development loan. Conner McGlinchey (born 22 May 1993) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays for Beith Juniors in the . He has previously played in the Scottish Premier League for Hamilton Academical. Career McGlinchey made his senior debut for Hamilton Academical on 14 May 2011, in a 1–2 loss against Inverness Caledonian Thistle. In February 2012, he signed a one-year contract extension with Hamilton. Later that month, he joined Berwick Rangers on loan.
