Beira-Mar Desportivo Clube or Clube Desportivo Beira-Mar ( Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK and the São Vicente Crioulo: ''Béra-Mar'') is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Santo Antão Island League South Zone in Cape Verde. It is based in the town of Ribeira Grande in the northwestern part of the island of Santo Antão. History The club is one of the most important formed by young players. Unlike the clubs of Maio and Tarrafal, the club is not an affiliate to Aveiro, Portugal's S.C. Beira-Mar, the logo and uniforms are different. The team won their first title in 2006 and entered for the first time in the National Division after the break-up into two island league zones, they would be placed in Group B and got only a single win and four points. The Santo Antão North (Zone) Opening Tournament (Portuguese: ''Torneio de Abertura de Zona Norte de Santo Antão'', Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: ''Turnéu di Abertura di Zona Sul di Santo Anton'') was an opening tournament. (equivalent to a league cup) played during the season in the northern part of Santo Antão Island (consisting of the municipalities of Paul and Ribeira Grande, Cape Verde. Santo Antão North Cup
The Santo Antão North Cup is a regional football (soccer) cup competition played during the season in the northern part of Santo Antão Island (consisting of the municipalities of Paul and Ribeira Grande, Cape Verde. The cup tournament is organized by the Santo Antão North Regional Football Association (ARFNSA). The winner (some seasons when a winner is also a champion, a cup finalist) participates in the Santo Antão North Super Cup. For several times, the winner (or a cup finalist if a winner is also champion) participated in the Cape Verdean Cup. The first entrant was in 2007 which was Rosariense and their recent was in 2012 and was Paulense. Since 2013, there were no entrants to the national cup due to financial concerns. 2006 Cape Verdean Football Championships
The 2006 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 26th of the competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. Its started on 6 May and finished on 2 July, earlier than the last season. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. Sporting Praia won their 5th title and in the following year participated in the 2007 CAF Champions League. No second place club participated in the 2007 CAF Confederation Cup. Overview Three clubs returned again, FC Derby, Sporting Praia and Mindelense, some others returned in some or several years, two clubs Barreirense FC and Beira Mar competed for the first time.
