Behala is a locality of South West Kolkata, in the Indian state of West Bengal. Behala is a part of Kolkata Municipal Corporation area. It is broadly spread across Ward Nos. 118, 119, 120, 121, 122, 123, 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, 131 and 132 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and is divided into two Vidhan Sabha constituencies: Behala Paschim and Behala Purba. Parnasree Pally is an upscale locality of Behala in southern Kolkata, India. It was included in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation in 1985. Translated to English the name means "beauty of the leaves". It was earlier known as Halderbagan (The Halders were probably the priests of Sabarna Roy Chowdhury family). The name Parnasree (Beauty of the Leaves) was coined by Late Asoke Ratan Mazumder when he became the member of the Co Operative Society formed for the rehabilitation of Refugees during Partition of India in 1947. Formation of Parnasree Palli In 1941 as war preparation began in India for Japanese invasion, a land locally known as Halder Bagan was acquired by the then government for building an air strip. Kalighat Kali Temple
Kalighat Kali Temple is a Hindu temple in Kalighat, Kolkata, West Bengal, India dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali. It is one of the Shakti Peethas. Kalighat was a Ghat (landing stage) sacred to Kali on the old course (Adi Ganga) of the Hooghly river (Bhāgirathi) in the city of Kolkata. The name Kolkata is said to have been derived from the word Kalikata devi of Kalighat Temple. The river over a period of time has moved away from the temple. A zamindar ( Hindustani: Devanagari: , ; Persian: , ) in the Indian subcontinent was an autonomous or semiautonomous ruler of a province. The term itself came into use during the reign of Mughals and later the British had begun using it as a native synonym for “estate”. The term means ''land owner'' in Persian. Sabarna Roy Choudhury
Sabarna Roy Choudhury was a Zamindar family of Mughal Bengal. They controlled significant swathes of territory, including what would later become Kolkata, prior to the sale of zamindari rights in 1698 to the East India Company.
