Beginnings (Ambrose Slade Album)
''Beginnings'' is the debut album by the British rock music, rock band Ambrose Slade, who later achieved fame as Slade. It was released on 9 May 1969, but failed to enter the charts. In the US, it was released under the title ''Ballzy''. A re-issue as ''Beginnings of Slade'' was briefly released by Contour in 1975, but was quickly withdrawn from sale due to copyright issues. ''Beginnings'' is a mixture of self-penned songs and cover versions including two tracks by Steppenwolf (band), Steppenwolf. ''Beginnings'' is the debut studio album by English guitarist and songwriter Steve Howe, released in October 1975 by Atlantic Records. It was recorded and released during a break in activity from the progressive rock band Yes, after they agreed for each member to produce a solo album. Howe employed various guest musicians, including past and present Yes bandmates Bill Bruford, Alan White and Patrick Moraz, plus members of Gryphon. The album reached No. 22 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 63 on the US ''Billboard'' 200. It was supported with promotional videos of "Ram" and "Beginnings". "Beginnings" is a song written by Robert Lamm for the rock band Chicago Transit Authority and recorded for its debut album ''Chicago Transit Authority'', released in 1969. The song is the band's second single (after "Questions 67 and 68"), but failed to chart on its initial release. After the band's success with subsequent singles, "Beginnings" was re-released in June 1971, backed with " Colour My World". The Beginnings
"The Beginnings" is a 1917 poem by the English writer Rudyard Kipling. The poem is about how the English people, although naturally peaceful, slowly become filled with a hate which will lead to the advent of a new epoch. The first four stanzas have four lines each with alternate rhymes, while the fifth (and final) stanza has five lines. The last line of every stanza ends with "... the English began to hate". The context is the anti-German sentiment in Britain during World War I. Kipling was known for never portraying Germans in a positive light, and had been the first to use the word "Hun The Huns were a nomadic people who lived in Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Eastern Europe between the 4th and 6th century AD.
